Really, Wu? You really think that Americans were united in hope in 1968? The same year that MLK was assassinated and riots broke out all over the country and near the end of a decade of racial strife?

This is something that gets MovieBob's fat jimmies in a rustle, too -- you gotta see how he screeches about how much it sucks he has to root against something called the Space Force now. Really, so much of this is just the usual narcissism we see from these people. If Trump is the WORST THING EVER and we "need hope more than ever" to "endure" him, well, really, doesn't that just make the people standing up to him (by whining on Twitter all day) so much better than you?

Wu's also making the mistake of assuming that historical opinions of Apollo reflect the modern view.

Don't get me wrong, I think funding NASA is important, but space travel has pretty much always been seen as a waste of taxpayer dollars by the majority of the American public, and during the Apollo project public approval was actually at it's lowest (with the exception of a spike immediately after the Apollo 11 landing, which quickly died down to normal levels).
