I just can't get over Wu describing Giant Spacekat as an institution. In what way? It made one game that flopped, has no staff and no lasting impact on the games industry.

The problem is not that women can't ascend to higher echelons in these fields: It's because given the decision, most of them don't. Not because of sexism, not because of structural oppression, but because the demands of the job are higher and, statistically, women are substantially more likely to go for options that will give them more time for family care, personal work, et al.

The horrible thing is, that facebook thinks that there is even a survey needed about this shit. This is less about finding the most legal and moral way of dealing with that sort of shit, but simply to figure out what would appease that masses. We are talking about a survey with a question, where most people would click: "Facebook should release the adult's name and address so the mob can hang that pervert on the next tree." if it was available.
They are a billion dollar company that could fire lawyers and philosophers out of a clown cannon at that issue until even god thinks it's waterproof.
 
Wu gets the facts wrong because her "hot takes" are always half-baked and uninformed by reality but it's still a deeply stupid way to ask about an issue that could be approached so many ways. Assuming FB was actually the one that created it and it wasn't sponsored.
