If this were a functional or non-fake campaign, sure.

It's not. It's a vanity "run" that's not even achieving that goal. If being a failed political candidate weren't unimpressive enough, Brianna Wu thinks that she can coast on the credentials of being a "candidate" without even bothering to put enough low effort forth to get on the ballot. Which, when you think about it, is less work to get about the same achievement (failure).

Anything to be able to justify not having a real job but still pretend to be important.

when it hits I think it will be so massive and tragic that it may not even be funny to us (well maybe some of us), even though we all saw it coming.

Wu has tried to destroy the lives of numerous other people and basically acts like the most fucking perfect person on Earth.

Short of something that actually kills Flu, nothing will not be labeled as karmic justice.

You know how some people are born on third and think they hit a triple? Wu was born on third, thinks she hits a homer, and is actually wandering around the outfield wondering what the fuck is going on.

Don't services exist that will get the signatures for you? I mean if she didn't waste all the campaign funds on vacations, Potbelly, and an office she never goes to, they could have hired a group of people who know what they're doing and hammer this out over a couple days.

First of all, she's already out of money. Secondly, she thought the signatures would fall from the sky, because everything in her life does. I'll do it for $5000.

Fuck off sicko.

I'm curious how man of the people Steve Lynch relates to this political group that apparently knows and willingly is inviting the ghoul that is his opposition in a cheap ladies ebay dress to speak to them? Is there any evidence they're unhappy with his refusal to go skinny dipping in the wages of identity politics sin, like the Flu clan apparently has their dander up at Lynch over currently?

Ah! I was going to wait until I reached the end to post this (:optimistic:) but the parents of a friend of mine who live in the district are (as of now, unless are convinced otherwise) planning on doing a fundraising event for Wu. According to my friend, "it seems one part is they want her opponent [Lynch] to make more of an effort to support liberal policies. They don't necessarily expect her to beat him but they don't want him to get elected without promising anything meaningful."

Do they realize that the only thing preventing Wu from being a joke candidate is the fact that she isn’t aware of the joke? I can see what they’re doing and like that they’re putting pressure on Lynch to go their way, but it might be faster for these people and their friends to build a bonfire and just throw their money there.

Convince them otherwise.

How recent is your intelligence? This was the plan last year. A group of people wanted to find a progressive woman to run against Lynch, not to win (which nobody thinks is possible) but to push him left on a few issues. To their credit, they discounted Wu quickly (even though she had already announced her campaign) and approached several other women. I've heard this story from two of them, and I'm sure there were more. Everyone was young, had families, didn't want the publicity, and didn't have time.

I am very surprised to hear that anyone still has this plan about Wu. Even at Christmas I was still hearing people talk about her campaign hopefully, and now everyone rolls their eyes if her name even comes up, and it rarely comes up. I was at an event the other night where I heard a table of people who I know don't like Lynch talk about how Lynch isn't actually that bad and is better than he used to be. I think it's more likely that he seems remarkably sane and competent in relation to Brianna.

This is super recent, as in right now, and we're trying to figure out a way to convince them. I was thinking of showing how Wu is spending the campaign money on nothing but frivolous things, as well as how little attention Lynch is paying them. Thoughts?

“Girth certificate”? Really? As someone who had a career gauging emergency medications based on estimated weight, and carrying said patients up and down stairs with limited help, let me assure you I am one of the all time experts at the “guess my weight” carnival game. Trump is ~ 240. No question. Why is this even a debate or discussion?

Brianna's got a $100k Porsche on order. Unless Frank has received a massive raise or bonus recently, I think Brianna is already spending her Conresswoman's salary. If they don't look like getting the signatures then I think they'd borrow from Frank. If they do actually get on the ballot then they probably will recover that money from future campaign donations. It will just mean a few less trips around the country and no more blowing money on hiring a cinema to watch Star Wars.

You could try pointing out that nothing Wu says about herself is true, that she has no formal qualifications as a software engineer, journalist, politician or anything else that she claims to be, nor does she have any relevant work experience in any field.

It can be demonstrated Wu was in formal education until 2006. After she married Frank in 2008 it can be demonstrated she was unemployed and considering returning to full time education up until she founded Giant Spacekat. A reasonable person can't look at Wu's supposed achievements and the timeframe they're supposed to have occurred in and reconcile the two.

Hell, just pointing out she spent 10 years at university and failed to get even an undergraduate degree ought to be evidence enough of severe dysfunction.

Edit: If you're friendly with these guys, and you chat with them, a good exercise in demonstrating Wu's dishonesty is to ask them to go to wikipedia and use the bio there to deduce how old Wu is. You should come away with an answer no greater than 34. Then show them her tweets from this year that she's 40. You can't piece together a reliable bio of Wu from her public statements because everything she says is based on foundational lies that she can't now correct.

I think the financial records are the best bet. Especially the second most recent ones. Point out that her office is in Burlington and that she hasn't spent any money on anything useful for a campaign. Say that she has done campaign trainings and hasn't followed any of their advice. They should ask their town or ward Democratic committee member their opinions too. If you want to tell me what town or city they live in I might have other suggestions.

So these people didn't learn anything from Donald Trump being elected President?

I can't give impartial (read: Non-KF/non-Lolcow Wiki) sources for this, but also point out that she's got a history of wasting others' money: Revolution 60's PC port was delayed without explanation for years, only finished because backers threatened to sue, and incomplete when it did launch. Before that, it was Socially Unconscious Productions; $200,000+ in funding with nothing to show for it.

Just link them this thread and by the third or so page post they'll probably contemplate killing themselves for even having that dumb idea.
