What I like about this whole situation is that she's decided to be an idiot about a topic that a lot of people are pretty passionate about. When she's spouting off about cars and programming, the people who are actually knowledgeable in those fields will get annoyed or point and laugh most of the time. Usually bitcoin aficionados are rightfully particular about their currency of choice and clearly don't take kindly to people who not only put down bitcoins, but also are incredibly wrong about it while using flawed logic. Hence why this particular bit of Brianna Wu brand Stupidity™ spread as quickly as it did and received a particularly venomous response.

I sincerely hope bitcoins becomes a favored topic for her since it's almost assured that she'll constantly receive the response she's gotten now in future instances of this until she inevitably decides to earn the ire of an even more vitriolic community.

Brianna is more similar to Andrew Dobson than I thought. They read something on their Twitter feed, completely misinterprets what they've read and then tries to poorly paraphrase it as if it was their own opinion and end up embarrassing themselves because they're sheltered manchildren who've never went out to the real world alone.

-Both have put their their penises inside the same number of women over the past 10 years or so.

Wouldn't it be easier to estimate the overall power consumption by checking the global hashrate, find the miners currently in use and check their advertised hashrate and power draw, then use a super computer to divide and multiply those numbers?

Somewhere back we argued that Brianna is pretty close to what Chris would be if he had money, if his love quest ended with an Asian guy, that makes some serious cash, and if there were for some reason people out there, who still take him seriously.

Unlikely. Moon rocks was so hilarious and far-reaching because everyone on the entire planet (except for Brianna Wu) understands how unbelievably stupid that comment was.
Bitcoin's different. For the average joe, bitcoin falls somewhere between "fraud" and "black magic" and most news outlets have trouble enough convincing their readers to care about it, let alone what retards say about it.

Brianna attempted damage control with the moon rocks tweets too, but failed to an embarrassing degree and was reduced to screaming about Nazi frogs. As someone mentioned earlier, when the smug hearts start flying that's a good sign that Brianna is losing his shit and barely keeping it together.

Why does this feel like Wu googled "Famous Mississippians" and called it a day as always? Oprah left the state aged six to live in Wisconsin then Tennessee. The main driving force for her was her father Vernon when she was in Nashville, where he pushed her hard for education.

Henson left aged four and wound up in Maryland and was born to civil servant parents (so hardly dirt poor).

The only one vaguely valid one this list is Morgan Freeman, and he was out of the damn state before his teens.

In comparison we've got Flynt and his old money parents, stuck out in the state for decades before trooning out as a refusal to grow the fuck up.

Yeah, it was worse with the moon rocks incident. Brianna even showed an ama response after the initial moon rocks tweet from some astrology guy who he claimed was a close friend sending a personal response to the question, and claimed the response was telling him he was right and he'd be awaiting those sweet, sweet apologies from the people correcting him. When in reality, the ama response was telling him "No, it doesn't work like that" and he didn't even bother with comprehensive reading.

That's when shit just really spiraled out of control, with it evident that Bri doesn't even proof read shit before claiming he knows what it says, and since moon rocks is easier to understand than bitcoin, a decent number of sites were covering it. The result, iirc, was Bri going full damage control and ending up whining about it all in some podcast where he tried to backpedal and change what he initially was stating, after deleting the tweets. Thankfully, those were screencapped and on the internet forever, to disprove history altering.

What I find reassuring is that no matter how much Wu gets pushed as smart by asspatters, he can't help but demolish all attempts to give truth to those attempts.

Those CON leaks confirmed something beyond all doubt: Wu just cannot sound smart when he goes off a script, because he has no good ideas on his own. Worse, his arrogance and vanity often prevent him from sticking to a script because he's truly stupid enough to believe he's smart, even though actual smart people will occasionally follow canned instructions when it's essential they don't do something stupid simply by accident, because they are smart enough to realize they could screw up and want to prevent being overtaken by their own overconfidence.

Worse, he doesn't have a skill that is vital to any public figure: the ability to admit wrong, even if only to look good, because, again, his arrogance is so pronounced he is too proud to admit he screwed up, even when doing so would be the wisest course of action.
