So lets say that somehow John raises the money to get on the ballot, but he doesn't use it to actually get on the ballot... are there legal ramifications?

Serious answer: Possibly but most likely not.
If you could convince the government they could prove it beyond a reasonable doubt, he could be charged with fraud. But beyond an accounting misstep, since simple incompetence isn't fraud (unless he knowningly misrepresents himself as an expert) proving that would require a finding a document something like this:

I John Walker Flynt fuck I mean I Brianna Wu,
Having always have been a woman, and definitely never a man, and possessing a degree from the University of Mississippi, and being of as sound mind and body as anyone who pays a Thai surgeon to cut off their penis, do intend to fraudulently raise money from suckers by pretending to run for congress with no intent to seriously do so. I attest to this being a complete scam. I'm writing this because I'm bored and the Pats don't play this week. Man if someone found this I'd be completely fucked.

Signed
John Brianna Wu
PS. I'm dotting the I with a heart to show that I am and always have been a woman and definitely not a man at any point in my life.

Aka you'd need bring them a gun that's smoking like one of Winnie Mandela's necklaces.

Accounting misteps would be easier to prove, but the punishments are likely to be a slap on the wrist (especially since Wu won't win) unless they are huge and obvious. Possibility of a small fine, election board censure, etc. (Side note: some of this slap on the wrist stuff can be fairly serious for political operators, because it adds weight to any charges against future campaigns. Again, not a serious consequence for John.)

Its somewhat more likely you could prove a civil case for fraud, but remember the Supreme Court of Florida said that Bernie Sanders could raise money saying it was for him to run for president, attack Clinton during the primaries and then turn around and let the DNC select the candidate it always intended to run, and this wasn't determined to be fraud, despite them having DNC emails that were p. much "FW:Re:RE:FW: How do we make 100% sure Sanders is shut out and Clinton gets the nomination?". (This was because the DNC rules permitted this exact behavior, and Sanders TOS included that he'd give his campaign warchest to the DNC if he didn't get the nomination. Read that fine print, folks)

Gotta be honest, this is one shitty scam. Like I and others have said before though, this is very likely so Wu can continue the charade of claiming to be anything he wants to be. This way he can at least claim "I was once a congressional candidate" to sound professional, or go balls in and say "I am a former politician".

This is just a very expensive, costly, and exceptional way for Wu to have another job title along with engineer and game designer. Best part is, Wu's not even doing THAT right. He's literally couch campaigning, so any attempts to tell people "I am a former congressional candidate/politician" will be met with, at best, "That's nice dear" while people think "Who is this person again?".

Brianna Wu's audience is made up of people who are fiercely political but don't know anything about politics as a system or a profession and on a range from dog catcher to POTUS they can name maybe 3-4 politicians and their positions.
They also don't vote. So they might believe it, just like they believed Wu's fables in the past, they just don't know any better.

No, I mean like if Wu tried to go onto a public interview and say "I'm Brianna Wu and I'm a former politician". If Wu tried to tell someone that wasn't a brainwashed fan that, it would just fall flat or be accepted at face value with a grain of salt.

Honestly at this point anyone who gives John a single RED CENT is an instant fucking lolcow. Ten months and not a single picture of John even fucking standing outside a building, let alone interacting with anyone who isn't a chink dwarf.

Anyone on those FEC reports should be fucking doxed.

Okay John so first of all, for the millionth time, you don't have any friends.

Canidates? Wu is encouraging bestiality! Dating dogs is illegal, Wu-Man!

Quite the holiday message from Flynt/Wu: Don't buy gifts for your friends and loved ones; instead, give the money to meeeeee so I can spend it on every personal expense and tech gadget that I think will have even the slightest chance of passing FEC scrutiny. What an absolute asshole.

The Hugos lost all legitimacy once they nominated Chuck Tingle's "Space Raptor Butt Invasion".

Indeed, the entire purpose of that nomination was to make the point that the Hugo's are irredeemably tainted and illegitimate.

EDIT: Ninja'd by @AnOminous and others. The "Space Raptor" nomination was the work of Vox Day and his minions and was intended to discredit the Hugo's, a fact that sailed completely over the empty heads of many of the SJWs who now rule random. They thought it was an actual attempt by VD (couldn't resist) to win himself a Hugo.

That “scientist friend” is full of shit. I googled “antibiotics new,” which that “scientist friend” didn’t do. Because that “scientist friend” doesn’t exist.

Lets hate honestly here.

John is misquoting his scientist friend. What the "scientist friend" likely said meant to say is:
In the past 50 years, the FDA has not approved any antibiotics that are anything more than an incremental improvement or slight variation on existing methods of efficacy. I'm not sure if this is actually true, but its fairly close (I'll believe the 30 year number over the 50 years). Once they cracked... I want to say it was some type of gram-negative bacteria, there weren't a lot of bacterial infections they couldn't treat in some fashion, so the focus shifted on Anti-viral research because our anti-virus treatment options are way under developed.

Now that the incremental improvements have slowed, there's a greater impetus to try to find a novel method of anti-bacterial treatment (as well as additional technology to find, test, and produce it).

(The "scientist friend" is likely an employee at Franks job.)

That line about Lynch being a Republican in a cheaper suit not only reeks of elitism (which he then cries about later in the email), but it makes me think Frank wrote the majority of this email. Correct me if I'm wrong, but he was the one who first came up with it.

But both Frank and Brianna keep repeating it like the line is some work of genius do it's hard to tell anymore. At least it's clear that Wu has nothing beyond bad one-liners and lies.

Like anything quotable from either of the Wu's, the statement about Lynch is not original. According to a quick search, the claim that Democrats (all of them) are just Republicans in cheaper suits dates to at least 2003, when it was written by someone not named Frank Wu or John Flynt.

During the wonderful moonrocks debacle, Brianna Wu also quoted a "scientist friend" which was actually an anonymous Reddit poster in an ask thread, so it's pretty likely that this time was also just a post from some anonymous user she took a cursory glance over, if even that.

She also, of course, misinterpreted the information and understood it only in the way necessary to confirm what she already believed, so if anything she's just bringing up an authority in whatever random field of study she's talking about as a mouthpiece to make it sound like her poor understanding has some sort of legitimacy.

Still, it's always a treat seeing Brianna cope with being incorrect. Even when provably wrong, she'll try to get away by saying it was a misunderstanding on her reader's behalf or because of obsessive pedantry.

If the "scientist friend" meant "a new family of chemically related substances" then he was pretty much on the mark, given the quinolone and the carbapenem groups were developed in the 1970s. But that doesn't mean new types of microbial are no longer developed. Teicoplanin and Daptomycin are examples of new compounds discovered in the past 20 years and has been approved for fulminant multi-resistant S. aureus infections. The problem with these new compounds is that they are peptides, and it is difficult to modify them to derive a family of drugs.

Also, big pharma has enough resources dedicated to research -- and they are motivated; antimicrobials are a big business -- that any paltry funding from the congress will not make a difference.

So, more than likley 'having dinner with a """scientist""" friend' is Johnspeak for sitting at home alone, eating reheated Chinese food and browsing Reddit like a loser, and misunderstanding the information from a random Redditer. I'm a little saddened that I don't live in the 8th district of Massachusetts, I'm only a single town away from being able to vote against John.

If he can beg for voters in other states, surely you can vote in the next district over.

I think it's a little more than that. Like Rev60, Wu For Head Drumpf Inquisitor is a high-difficulty, high-risk, high-reward scheme to hop on a trend at just the right time and cash in. Frank is very good at spotting these trends, and very poor at evaluating his capacity to take meaningful action on them.

You're giving them waaay too much credit. I don't think any competent politician is going to want to stand on the We Hate Trump platform, it's the kind of thing that marks you out as fringe whacko candidate. It's already making Wu look deranged, going on rants against Trump and then awkwardly shoehorning in Lynch at the end to somehow make it relevant to her real opponent.

There's nothing to this other than Brianna desperately seeking something that she can say she's doing so she can stave off ever having to try to get a real job. You'd be terrified too if your entire backstory was easily verifiable lies. That's as Machiavellian as it gets, one wu-man's crusade to avoid her house of cards collapsing.
