It's rather ironic, people like Brianna Wu thinking they can change the world is the entire reason for my cynicism to begin with.
She is interviewed by real media outlets as an expert on topics she knows nothing about, nor has any qualifications or experience with, simply because some video game nerds trolled her 3 years ago. She is now running for public office on a platform of moon rocks and tech feminism.
If you're not a cynic by this point in time, I have a bridge to sell you, and I'm calling it Revolution 61.
Every time she talks about a friend who is actually alive, it turns out that it's actually Frank's friend that she's appropriating.
I don't think she actually has any friends of her own. Even the people she podcasts with seem like they can't stand her or at least have no faith in her to ever do anything useful, given they've all given no money at all to her congressional campaign.

It's actually what makes her such a fascinating cow to follow.
Every aspect of her person, from her education to her job history, her gender to her childhood, her knowledge, her experiences, and even her jokes?
They are, without exception, little bits and pieces she's taken from elsewhere, distorted, or just wholly fabricated.
Her personal history is made up. There is nothing to suggest she has ever been homeless, worked as a journalist, or has any political ties.
Her sexuality is a lie. There is nothing to suggest John Flynt or Brianna Wu ever had any interest in women, most accounts paint him as a flamboyantly gay man.
Her jokes are shit she heard and ripped off from elsewhere.
Her education and work history are outright fabricated.
Her skills are boasts she provably can't back up.
Her family and her relation to them is made up. There are no documents indicated she was ever adopted.
Her "abuse" and trolling was initiated by her, then lied about from there.
What she's essentially done is create an entire fictional human being, and then try to live as that person in the public eye and see if anyone notices.
If she weren't an idiot, I'd call it brilliant. She invented a person and is seeing how far she can get pretending to be that person.
You think the Natalie O'Brian thing is nuts, but that's actually the second person she made up.
