It's not old money though, it's new money - the top of the sci-fi scene that crosses over into the mainstream, plus tech nerds that suddenly became unelected dictators on social media (Twitter staff, etc)
The sci-fi scene is an ideal place for a ruthless, amoral arriviste to stake a foothold, because of just this crossover effect - the mighty still mingle with the masses to some degree. Case in point: you saw genuine A-list authors like George RR Martin getting down in the trenches over that "Sad Puppies" internet slapfight.
I don't think this was some sort of intentional chessmaster move on John's part to infiltrate a well-connected, incestuous, yet porous social scene, he just blundered into it by sheer luck.

But what about the 200k from her parents and the Republican party connections? That sounds like old money to me.

Brianna seems to of had the privilege of both old money connections and as you said new money sci-fi and tech connections and has still been an absolute failure. The questions of 'why do people still do her favours' and 'what's in it for them' are still unanswered.

I think it's a combination of virtue signalling, ideological mind-virus ("John is a 'woman' in tech and those people are oppressed to therefore they are always morally right"), and just being outright fucking stupid. Complete physical and moral abominations like Phil still get money and asspats, and John is not too far off from that.

The Flynts aren't old money either, to the best of our knowledge - Dr. Joel Flynt started off as a doctor in the Navy and built up a large, thriving practice once he returned to civilian life. He built his fortune himself. The kind of political pull Mr. and Mrs. Flynt have is just the kind anyone can get if they're a regular, generous campaign donor and involved local party member. We're talking "personally signed letter during fundraising season", not "call for policy advice". And we see precisely how far their pull got them - swinging their "special" son a job stuffing envelopes one summer.
Even if John hadn't burned all his bridges from Mississippi, he was never really plugged into the levers of power there to begin with.

I must be missing some examples but Jesus Christ what a busy month of having no scruples whatsoever. Once again this proves that the idiots still donating to her campaign and Patreon deserve to be parted with their money.

Fuckin hell. Even I switched to Lyft after all of the Uber controversies. I put exactly two seconds worth of thought into it. It was literally as easy as just using a different app.

The weirdest thing about this part of her platform is that BOSTON IS ALREADY A TECH HEAVY CITY. It's part of what is ALREADY pricing her constituents out. She really is a complete and utter moron.

Could be John is so incompetent and unqualified that Boston's high standards have completely frozen him out and he simply has no awareness of the reality of the situation. He only gets speaking gigs at backwater community colleges in empty auditoriums; can you even imagine him getting within sniffing distance of MIT?

Another one to add to the now ridiculously long list of things Wu has promised to make her top priority in congress. I wonder if she doesn't actually realise that if by some miracle she's elected (it could happen, it's not beyond the realms of possibility that everyone in district 8 will contract a brain parasite that attracts them to ugly trannies) people will have this archive of things she promised and they're actually going to notice when she doesn't do any of them.

Every time something grabs her attention she says she's going to write legislation about it. Either she's a complete moron, she thinks her followers are all complete morons, or she knows that she has no hope of winning so she can just say anything. Or maybe some combination of the three.
