Offtopic: Buffalo Wild Wings and Applebees are pure, pure shit. They're expensive, serve shitty food and watered down booze. Them closing means more local restaurants will open, with better quality food for the same price or less. The waiters will move into those jobs.

I dunno, while Applebees is completely unremarkable their prices are the same as anywhere else and I really like the super hot BWW wings. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I have to admit I'm not really cool with someone following John to the airport (assuming that's what happened and this wasn't just a chance encounter) ... but at the same time, I have to wonder why someone who claims to have been a victim of unending harassment, to the point of having had to flee their home, would make it so frigging easy to track them down -- tweeting not just where and when they were traveling, but the name of the airline they were using. It couldn't have taken more than five minutes' detective work to find him.

Why, it's almost as if all those high strung tales of harassment were total fuckin' bullshit.

if he is as emotionally stunted as everyone thinks he is due to the childhood death of his sister, maybe he actually enjoys childish nerf gun battles with his pet tranny

Pet is probably the right description but then I wondered, why didn't he just get a dog?
But he's emotionally stunted, childish and into sci-fi - he'd never settle for a dog, he wants to be Elliot and he wants an E.T.

A disturbing thought.

A wild tranny appears!

She wearing her politician outfit and is glued to her phone. It's hard to imagine a more Wu photo than that. No wonder that dress is always stained, it's apparently the only outfit she owns.

I notice she's not wearing her problem glasses though. Possibly they fit so poorly they're reserved only for public appearances?

There are words like cankles and gunt to describe certain physical features, but wtf do you call that posterior, bass? Ruck? Hank Hill ass?

Growing more and more cuboid with age and weight is impressive though, that usually doesn't happen. Add 50 pounds and twenty years and I expect Brianna to somehow look just like a refrigerator box if wearing brown or a tall refrigerator if wearing white/brushed stainless steel.

That purse is just asking to be stolen.

I was thinking just that: Terrible bag positioning there with what looks like an iPad and a Nintendo Switch casually sticking out the top. Can't tell if it's because Wu is terrible at packing a bag properly and is so sheltered she doesn't even think about thieves, or that she desperately wants to make sure that everyone knows she's a hip young software engineer with all the latest tech gadgets.

What's more quintessentially Wu? Incompetence or narcissism? The eternal question.

Never thought I'd see the day where I thought a Wu ensemble would be better with the boots. Those are some ugly shoes.

What a horrible looking creature.

Actually, thinking about... why is Wu going to altconf this year? There's no dick big enough for her to suck such that they'd let her speak again after last year's shit show. Hell, she ought to be embarrassed even to show her face. She doesn't really seem to have a social circle who she's meeting with judging by all the tweets to randos about meeting up and going to films or whatever. She certainly can't be going for the technical sessions, she's stopped even vaguely trying to pretend she's still running a games company. Networking with technical types in California isn't exactly going to advance her goal of being elected to congress back home in MA.

I know Apple fanboys are all obsessive wankers, but flying 1000 miles and spending a 4 days in a shitty hotel just so you can be closer to where senpai is holding his latest mutual masturbation session is a bit much.

He did - they have two of them. Plus Crash the sacrificial mutt.

Easy to answer - it's both. Wu throws money at problems, whether it be not having new tech or having somebody else do the actual hard shit for them.

Hell, she ought to be embarrassed even to show her face.

I don't think Wu is capable of embarrassment.

I think Wu's got a couple of reasons for going. For one, it's probably the best opportunity for her to connect with her network of sycophants and campaign donors, most of which live out on the West Coast and also like to pretend they are important people in technology. I bet she uses the chance to shake them down for more money or at least more fluff pieces from the bloggers and writers.

The other major reason for going is that it gives her something to do (or at least pretend to do). Brianna's days consist almost entirely of Twitter sperging and video games; it's a life devoid of purpose. At least when she's traveling she can pretend that it's not the case.

She is (see the moon rocks stuff, her refusal to bring up Rev60 anymore, and the countless deleted tweets that have been mocked) but I don't know if Wu fully understands why the things she does are embarrassing and draw ridicule. Her narcissism and ignorance keep any real self-evaluation from happening.

On one hand, it's hilarious seeing angry Big Bird in the wild. On the other, the photograph is creepy and also plays into her fake narrative. I'm not a fan of people doing anything to fulfill her stalked-woman fantasy, even if it is just for the lulz You can bet that when she wakes up around noon, she will see this and use it to increase her Patreon bucks because she really needs to pay poor eternally pregnant Natalie. She'll also mention it in every interview for at least the next year.

I don't even really care about this, but women are only going to be genuinely on equal footing with men when people can criticise their art without fear of reprimands and it's accepted that women can make things that are absolute crap. Treating them like children who can do no wrong and take no criticism is counter-productive to the whole enterprise.

Pretty much. There are innumerable women in tech who are great at what they do and who can handle criticism with the best of them. You just never hear about them because they're busy working and achieving things rather than screeching on Twitter all day about nonsense.

That purse is just asking to be stolen.

Unbelievable. Bag sits out of her eyeline, logo facing out because of course it is, and electronics poking out of it like it's a professionally arranged gift basket.

Kind of makes you wonder if her story about the brutal mugging is real. Or the one about being run from her home. Or the one about someone breaking her window. Or the ones about being catcalled by predators.

Average women more than privileged men are raised to be vigilant and aware of their surroundings at all times. Notice the woman next her with the plastic bag between her feet. She's able to keep an eye out for her luggage while also protecting her possessions. This is normal behavior.

Brianna, as per usual, provides the counter-example to anything normal.

John is also the Oddzilla of tech feminism, he has to maintain appearances that he's still involved in "tech". In his broken mind, flying across the country to attend an alternative wwdc, while faking he's at the real one, is how you do it.

You're right about that. Perfect example I was recently watching a documentary series about Japanese video game music Diggin' in the Carts and it had a few interviews with some of the women involved in doing soundtracks for games in the 90s. They were so into their craft, talking passionately about working with the limited tools they had back then and how they had to use their wits and expertise to get around those problems. Not one of them used it as an opportunity to grandstand about oppression or how women are unfairly treated; they were just professionals who clearly loved what they were doing and in the process were responsible for some of the best and most influential music ever made.

I'm not someone who thinks that women don't face certain obstacles, but it was so refreshing and inspiring to hear women actually talk about their profession in depth and with such enthusiasm rather than making everything about those obstacles.

Found this tidbit interesting. Sorry if its already been posted-i dont remember seeing it but anyways

Wu's now a "public figure" and a "politician" though. She lost the right to privacy in public with her stupid attention seeking and doesn't even realize it. Can you imagine Stephen Lynch throwing a twitter bitchfit because someone took a picture of him at the airport? Or Mark Zuckerberg? Or, shit, I don't know, even Billy Mays when he was alive. People gawk at celebrities and her victim narrative completely falls apart when she's now supposed to be on the campaign trail.

Like all things, Wu hasn't thought through the ramifications of any of her actions and how they might effect her narrative.
