I looked up and read that story, it's the typical "some perv asked me out and then acted aggressive and pervy and when I went to a person with some kind of authority they told me to just deal with it."

Now, besides the fact that Brianna has never and will never go through this for obvious reasons, and besides the likelihood of this sob story being untrue or potentially exaggerated.

Even throwing aside the fact that if this kind of thing happens in real life you have many options, you can record the encounter, you can move away from the aggressive person and then call the actual authorities if they continue to harass you. You can even pull the old "I have pepper spray/mace/a pocket knife in my pocket, piss off creep", and if this entire thing did happen you can report that bus driver to their supervisor and you can ham up the story there a bit even and you can even talk to the news about this bus line allowing its patrons to be sexually assaulted, because that company does not want to become associated with sexual assault and news producers like stories like this.

Putting all of that aside, if you truly believe any man has not been accosted on a bus or harassed by a skeevy person you are insane. If you truly believe no man can understand a situation like this, you are ignorant. But you don't believe that, because if you did you wouldn't even tell this story publicly, because every guy would just go "What's the problem here, I don't understand."

The biggest thing that stands out about this entire thing though is that Brianna Wu sees posting this divisive bullshit as more important than her public image as laughable as it already is. Like you can argue the spergy videogame shit as "I have to show my personal life, people need to see im a regular person!" But posting stuff that for a regular politician could piss off voters would be seen as a regular PR person as "you idiot, are you trying to lose?"

Of course as an engineer, bribri doesn't understand the ultimate origin point of this scandal: dealing with someone pulling numbers out of their ass that have no relation to reality.

Because that's what the US does when it comes up with emissions standards for passenger size vehicle diesel engines. They write the emissions standards for petrol engines presumably with input from people who know what they are talking about....and then those emissions standards also apply to diesel engines, because fuck you we can't be bothered despite the significant differences in operation between the two platforms.

In the EU, they write two separate sets of standards, one for petrol, and one for diesel, and the diesel standards as a result you have a snowballs chance in hell of complying with. Thus, diesel cars are far more common over there.

This rectal extraction based approach of diesel emissions in the USA has absolutely no bearing on the VW scandal no sir.

As a point of interest, the EU and US models that were equipped with defeat devices didn't pass either set of regulations, but failed EU regulations far less blatantly (shocking).

Whenever idiotic, hawkish politicians decide they want to start a war somewhere, we have to worry for our lives. We are the ones who, if things get really bad, are going to be conscripted to go and die in the Crimea, Korea, Iran, China or wherever the latest fashionable hotspot the military-industrial complex decides is worth the blood of hundreds or even thousands of young, predominantly white men.

We are the ones that have to live in constant fear of inept governments starting World War III, because it could cost us our lives.

You get cat-called, we get called up.

Yet you spent $2k on a pc and VR headsets you don't brag about anymore. Running out of funds for your toys? Just expense it from your scampaign funds you hack.

I bet they're broke from fixing up John's classic 2001 Audi TT.

But just the dress-up part. I think a couple of FFXIV players on here have pointed out that Wu's gear is complete garbage for the class she's playing, which was probably chosen because Wu believes she can get people to drag her useless ass through areas so long as she heals.

Why would that cost anything? Isn't John a master mechanic who wouldn't have to pay for anything but parts?

A glance at that picture of his shows he mainly plays the crafting classes, probably got too rekt at the fighting classes but still wanted to waste time on the virtual world. The content of the game is quite straight-forward.
 
I'd have to ask my discord, but I'm fairly certain that that gear is pretty crap. Seriously, not a single green, at least? Also, White Mage is a fairly involved class not because of the healing, but because many boss fights have extra mechanics to them-for example, in the Copperbell Mines, one boss requires you to hit a level and spawn a Bomb enemy that you then have to explode next to the boss to make him split apart (he's a giant slime, see). Many dungeon guides recommend the healer handle mechanics like this, because Puzzle Bosses like that don't do a ton of damage (unless you fuck it up), so the healing spells aren't needed as much as they usually are. Even without the idea of Puzzle Bosses, I wouldn't be surprised if Wu doesn't know the number one rule of MMO boss fights: "Don't stand in fire". In FF14, that means "Don't stand in the boss's incredibly telegraphed super attacks" (little areas appear on the ground, it's your job to GTFO of them).

EDIT: Not that I have much room to talk...my character has really long green hair and is named "Terratina Branford" because 6 was my favorite Final Fantasy. Then again, A: I know my Black Mage rotation and B: My gear is decent for my level.

EDIT THE SECOND: My discord took one fucking look at the gear and declared it "Trash". And these guys are really damn good at FF14 so I trust them.

Okay, so, full explanation of the gear shit: The pluses means that she's "glamoured" it, which means she's transformed the gear to LOOK LIKE something else but it has the stats of the base item (for WoW players, Transmog). The color of the plus also indicates the color of dye used (if it's just a dot, then she hasn't glamoured it, but most clothing/armor items have a color and that dot represents that color).

Now, what my discord has determined is that she's using gear acquired from quests or crafting. If you spend any time dungeoning, you should at least have a couple items that are BETTER. White mages need Mind (the stat that increases healing power), and any group will let you have it because the White Mage is the only one that needs mind (Magic DPS needs Intelligence, Ranged DPS needs Dex, Melee DPS needs Strength and Tanks need Vitality). An average dungeon run will result in at least one, maybe two things that a White Mage can use better then the other classes, especially when you get past 50 and start being able to do "Hard Mode" dungeons that have awesome gear.

Also also, I missed this in my last rant, but FF14 is a little different to other MMOs. The healer can function as a half DPS, especially with the White Mage's "Cleric Stance" that flips Mind and Intelligence, making their damage spells hurt a lot more. Then flip back to normal, heal the tank, flip again, etc...if you want a class that doesn't need to do anything, honestly, Black Mage is a better choice, the rotation is braindead easy to learn (Fire spells until you run out of MP, Transpose, Ice spells until you can Transpose back to doing fire spells. Later there's other stuff to juggle, but it comes after several levels and you become very familiar with what I just went over). The biggest problem with Black Mage is we deal so much damage we regularly steal aggro from them, so you do have to back off sometimes, but the game has very helpful meters in the upper left so you can see how much aggro you've built up.

So basically, even in an effort to do as little work as possible, Wu's gotten it completely wrong.
