I don't know why people are whining about audiobooks. They're a lot easier to use when doing something else at the same time.

I can only think it's because John doesn't do anything else at the same time.

Will Wu show these studies? No of course not, anyone wanting Wu to cite sources would just get blocked. He should also see who buys Visual Novel games in Japan, main demographic for those is men. Now if you're looking into just Visual novels/ Light novels well those would purchased by both sex roughly equally.

Also the gaming industry isn't Wu's, he's made one shitty game less than a thousand people bought and no one outside a few select circles remembers and will never be patched so that it can actually work.
 
It's funny because John shit all over MGS and The Witcher, two game series universally praised for telling good stories.

Because Wu is saying "reading" when that's not the case. Wu is 'listening' but wants to paint himself as being a studious, (literate!) serious candidate who sits down with political books in a library every night, paging back and forth between notes he's made on different pages. The reality is probably, like you're saying, that he's just listening to these books as background while doing something else- and I suspect the main thing he gets out of them is to be able to say "I read this topical book!" on twitter.

Because of her big boss lady fantasy, Wu's exactly the sort of asshole who has read/listened to a bunch of self-help managerial books of the art of negotiation oeuvre. I'm willing to bet that this "anonymous authorities think [insert opinion here]" is because she read somewhere that opinions are always more palatable when presented as coming from other people, and now she takes that one piece of advice to ridiculous extremes.

There have been multiple studies that show that when you read an actual physical book even if it's ficiton the parts of your brain that govern logical reasoning, inferential cognition, and a whole host of other things light up like fucking Christmas trees. While I have nothing against audiobooks the same studies show that listening to them does not display the same results and pretty much deprives you of the benefits of actually reading the damn things.
