JT is embroiled in a lawsuit with Alyssa Mercante, a former Kotaku writer who is trying to be the next Zoe Quinn and start up a new GamerGate. So now that Zoe has crawled out of whatever whore house she was hiding in and hooking her star to Alyssa, John saw his chance to relive his glory days by shoving his mutilated face into the fray.

He's baiting JT much like he baited GG with those Autistic kid memes back then.

Oh, I know about the Mercante lawsuit, just wondering what the hell John thinks he can sue over.

Not that he will since even he knows that discovery wouldn't be pretty if it got to that...

Not shocked, considering that John had a similar meltdown when he tried to claim Samus Aran from "Metroid" was trans and got shot down hard by actual Metroid fans.

What's kinda funny to me is Wu himself is arguably being pretty insulting by insisting they should do it because it would be weird, and then saying it works because some of their games are bizarre and unsettling.
 
If they had actually cast him John would not have said a single word about it being good casting because it's strange, he would be all in on scolding people for accurately saying they cast a man as a woman.

He can't even keep up the pretense he thinks it was a good idea for reasons other than it pushing his delusions as normal the whole tweet.

John has no idea what an attractive woman looks like. No doubt he thought Hunter genuinely looks like a hawt chick. It probably triggered his insecurities to hear that everyone can in fact tell that Hunter is a long-haired twink. Doubling down on the idea that Hunter looks like Zelda leaves him open to people pointing out that he himself also doesn’t pass. But retreating with dignity would mean admitting that he’s wrong, so we get these bizarre mental gymnastics.

One thing is for sure: even now, he is Googling plastic surgery to remove the remainder of his jawbone because then he will definitely pass for certain 100%.

We've seen it before with his "not in the mood" deal when he gets tripped up, etc
So,

This is someone who wants to represent the people, but who really only wants to hear from some people, those in his circle

This is someone who has built their positioning on personal issues (note how Wu uses personal anecdote as positional authority, and mentions how it's personally important) but when there is heat - over even a minor issue, that has no practical application...Wu can't take it and has to "step back"

So Wu wants to represent people in what is often an opponent process by...not listening to the people and running away...that's not the job
