However, Wu seems to have gone completely off the deep end on her own importance. She says that during gamergate if you were to make a list of the top 10 progressives that she'd be on it. She also says that while she's totally famous in the USA, she's just waiting for the invite from Israel to come over and meet all the most important politicians (1K viewer youtube show Nazi man says he'll try to make that happen.)

It's really hard to say with Wu. I think it's one of those instances of "if you say a lie enough times, you start to believe it." Wu has spent years living a life where the majority of his day is spent LARPing on Twitter. He's also managed to get a small group of people who feed into the LARP, like these random YouTube channels and podcasts. And that's not meant as a dig at content creators with smaller audiences, but Wu acts like he's consistently being asked to basically deliver a state of the union address. And he doesn't really have anyone pushing back on his narrative because so many of his "positive" interactions are from people on Twitter who ultimately have no idea who Wu is outside of liking his tweets, and because he's saying what they like, they don't think to challenge him and blindly accept/assume he must be one of those local, smaller political figures they've never heard of before.
And with how quick Wu is to block anyone that pushes back on the narrative...I really think after all this time, he's started to believe at least *some* of what he's peddling. I wouldn't say he's full on living in an alternate reality, but without anyone to push back/challenge his claims, he's effectively allowed to live in his own LARP.
I think he actually had a recent slap in the face when he went through his troon midlife crisis arc. I feel like that was the result of reality somehow managing to get through, snapping John out of his delusion that he's a woman. It's why, after all this time, he finally decided to look into more feminine things, aka very basic fashion that he's too ghoulish to use, forcing him to result to surgery and as many filters as he could find. There was even a moment in his "everyone already knows this, but..." video where he admitted he didn't know if he was technically a woman. But they're very brief windows of clarity that John tries (and usually succeeds) to numb with his Twitter addiction where he can safely go back to living in his LARP

Example at about 3:38 in the video, the guy talks about slaughtering children and kidnapping people and John makes an upset face, but just 5 seconds later, he grins at the camera even though the guy has not changed the tone of his words or voice at all:
