This whole Bustle thing is really kind of sad. Like, it's the kind of place that even starving millennials trying to break into journalism are ashamed to work at. And this is what John has been reduced to: he's literally giving his work away and he can't even roleplay as a journalist at a more respectable rag than Bustle.

Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy!

The starving millennials trying to break into journalism have the professional courtesy to not destroy Wu in seconds. So they leave that to the equally talented but less encumbered non-professionals.

Does Bustle even pay or is it just a glorified blogging platform?

Going to support this RACIST, SEXIST movie company yet again

Said the same about the last movie he was paid to watch (ghostbusters.)

Probably has a standard shilling contract that states if you pay him to promote your movie he will tweet that he's going to watch it twice "because it's that good"

They pay a handful of staff writers who churn out multiple pieces a day like $250-500 a week. Otherwise, you don't get paid for your submissions. It's similar to Bleacher Report (created by one of BR's founders) or Daily Kos, although at Bustle an "editor" has to approve your submission. They occasionally pay freelancers like $60 or so for a story, but that's rare.

It's a joke in the industry like Bleacher Report. Made for people who want to pretend to be journalists but don't have the chops to get a real job in the profession. You'll never see any legit writers put Bustle on their resume.

I always found it funny the Bustle was pitched as some female media outlet when the only people making money off it are guys. The people at the top of the company are almost all guys as well as their investors. So basically a bunch of desperate women are being exploited for free content so some rich guys can get richer. Modern day feminism at it's finest.

Yeah it's kind of ironic that John claims to be a feminist and yet writes for a feminist websigbt owned by a man.

He seems pretty committed to the journalist thing. Is Giant Spacekat and game developer Wu a thing of the past?
He's got to do something. His video game turned out to be a colossal failure. Tough to act like a voice for women if people realize you're just an unemployed loser.

Writing the occasional article for a tiny clickbait site that doesn't pay I guess allows him to pretend to be a journalist for a little while.

Poor Natalie shows up to work in her 56th trimester to find the office shuttered....
Tears roll down her cheeks and she sighs in relief that it is finally over. It is time to deliver her now teenage son to the world safe from Wu's clutches. She wonders how she will support the both of them but realizes she hasn't been paid in years. She turns away from Wu's house and walks into the distance fading from memory as Brianna completely forgets her last and only faithful employee.

She was surprisingly quiet about this talk relative to the university one. Only a few tweets in total about it and no pictures whatsoever. I wonder if it even happened.
