They aren't setting up other movies for these characters they're trying to jam a bunch of things together to hopefully prop up something that's key to Cosmic Marvel but they didn't establish as having any value outside of GRRRL POWER pandering. I'm not a fan of all of these films but Guardians, Eternals and now Marvels are ensembles because nobody gives a single shit about any of these obscure characters they've never heard of before they see the movies but Feige and Marvel need them to establish the lore for other stuff, namely the Celestials. The Diversity Pandering™ is because Disney knows this will get a bunch of morons to champion and promote the films of characters nobody cares about. And this allows Feige, when he gets to stuff you have heard about like the Fantastic Four and Galactus, to go "see, it's all connected, you stupid fucking idiot, now drink and clap" and if some of this shit takes off like Guardians did, that's a major bonus.
"Leftist" consoomers are seriously the dumbest and least skeptical people about giant corporations there's ever been. Ayn Rand was more cynical about corporate executives than these people.

The idea that being "in the running" for a cheesey AnLab Award leads to major book deals is so stupid that even John Flynt can't possibly believe it.
ETA: So how many competitors did Frank and his coauthor beat to become finalists for this prestigious award? Well, there are three finalists for best novella out of the six novellas that Analog published in 2022.
Saying that this participation-trophy achievement is worthy of a major book contract is like telling a special ed 12th-grader that his vinegar-and-baking-soda volcano science project is worthy of a scholarship at MIT. It's almost like John is ridiculing Frank . . . again.
