You haven't paid shit in a decade, John.

John might well have balked at a $300-a-month car payment in 2003. He was an unemployed undergrad at Ole Miss and only in Year Five of his 10-years-with-no-degree college career. John does, however, seem like exactly the kind of person who would make his car very easy to steal.

Of course it's not hard to keep an older vehicle running...if you are OK driving it blind while it's on fire
I wouldn't doubt he hasn't spent too too much on boxster maintenence considering he (pretend) drives his other cars more now b/c of the purity"...I mean not Ferdinand Purity as in the aryan race purity...just regular exploiting chinamen purity

I'm curious about the numbers and their breakdown.

Its probably has more to do with classes going back to physical and a big spike in enrollments over COVID times; Several states let you collect unemployment while you are enrolled in an educational program, and even red states like Tennessee let anyone under I think its 25 go to community college for better-than-free. So I'd guess that numbers were artificially high.

Also if 662,000 is a 5% loss, that still ~14 million students, which is about 5% of the national population. That's a lot of minds getting CRT indoctrination.
That's a crazy amount when you think about it. It would really be interesting to know how many from that are enrolled in a 4 years degree but it really says a lot about the rapidly plummeting standards of higher education. Assuming that the 18-22 demographic is what? Maybe 10% of the population (disregarding older students, internationals etc..) That would mean that basically anyone with an IQ above 100 in that age group is in college somehow lol
That's not higher ed, that's thinly veiled for profit indoctrination centers.
Man, how can anyone take american academia seriously when the standards are so low.

What a strange set of tweets. Prices have gone up on new cars because of the chip shortage (plus inflation probably) which has driven up the prices of all cars. Yet John whines about "utterly forgettable" SUVs and talks about his Porsches, but I don't think he bought his Porsches either new or on a payment plan. (And the car illustrating the story is not an SUV but a brand new Lexus according to the text of the story, there's possibly barely one SUV in the entire photo of the parking lot and the story doesn't mention any.)

John's basically just saying what's always been true, if you can pay cash for the full price of a car you'll be better off, but since he's John he's trying to turn it into this epic brilliant thing he does because he's such a car expert. Even though putting up the cash for a two year old "utterly forgettable SUV" would be a smarter move than buying a brand new Porsche on a payment plan too. I won't get into the potential ease of getting all the yard stuff you're purchasing from Lowes back to the Wu Mansion in an "utterly forgettable SUV" versus the only usable Porsche as some of that is just up to personal taste in a vehicle.

"utterly fogettable" -- I suppose that's the U in SUV...the utility part.
it's for people actually doing things.
John's cars are for posting on twitter. They are fashion accessories
It reminds me of this

SD card should still be salvagable after just a washing, unless you used like boiling hot water that deformed the plastic. I would expect the Godzilla of Tech to know that.
Hell, if the screen isn't busted you should be able to wash the boards in alcohol to disolve any short-causing deposits, maybe replace the battery, and get the whole thing back online, since it was washed with a comforter the comforter should have provided cushioning.

Inflation has been kept artificially low for over a decade by "quantative easing" that started in response to Obama's shit economy and was never stopped. Due to the low cost of borrowing companies were cutthroat competing on price and the supply chain all the way down was trying to razor margin on cost, willing to do so because of the cheap cost of borrowing. Only when there was supply chain fuckery like with wood last year, or now with the chip shortage, did you start getting an idea of what things cost. The fed just raised "Incredibly stupidly low" to "stupidly low", borrowing is no longer free, and now you are now seeing 10+ years of inflation being suddenly brought online.

Just by the by, in CURRENT YEAR it is usually best to never ever tell a dealer you are paying cash for your car until they have given you a final price.

tl;dr is thanks to the internet, most of a dealership's profit comes from kickbacks from the dealer's lender for financing/leases. So the best thing to do is use pricing laws - act like you are going to finance until you get an official dealer cost print out. Only then inform them you are writing a check for the whole amount.

No, no one remembers that John. Scott Adams probably doesn't even remember that.

Oh sure, I didn't meant to speak to any negotiation tactics just your overall purchase plan. I imagine John does open with "I'll pay you [X] in literal cash" though.

The lights being on in pinball machines depreciates the value so much.
He can no longer claim they’re mint condition as the heat from the bulbs both discolours the printed designs, and melts the plexiglass.
Like his Porches, John has fucked the value up on every single machine there.

The Halloween and Jurassic Park ones show he doesn’t put dust covers on, otherwise they wouldn’t be under the dropped ceiling.
Storing by a window, too!
Guaranteed he doesn’t monitor the humidity because trans gay mississippi black girls wouldn’t know about such a thing

I’m not even an expert, and i can see everything he owns gets abused (obligatory amhole quip)

They're also placed to tightly (and unevenly, very Wu) together.

And who plays pinball sitting down? That's not Frank's smoky pachinko parlor.

John's hunchback allows him to use the stool and still lean over to see the entire machine. He's an expert gamer and knows these things.

The unplayable positions are top Wu
Every time they move the machines it fucks the springs too

Not saying theyre worthless, but not worth anywhere near as much as he thinks

Restored will still sell, and damaged original casing sells too
He’d have to sell for parts, just like his rusting car collection.

Who cares about that shit?? He’s got ethnic women fighters to buy in some gay ass wh40k clone
