"If you don't like Persona 5 you may as well just kill yourself you fucking human garbage <3 <3 <3"

How to Win Votes and Influence People by Rep. John W. Flynt
Foreword, "Middle America Is a Cesspool of Human Garbage" by Bob Chipman.

I don't think anyone has a problem with geeks, but most people do have a problem with snarky know-it-alls talking down to them.

And anyway most of the 'geeky' stuff Wu tweets about (that isn't a word-salad of tech jargon) is just mainstream pop-culture that even the normiest of normies will know about. Does she not realise the fact that the films she talks about have multi-million dollar budgets is because they are incredibly popular and guaranteed to bring in a huge profit?

Anyway I spent a little bit of time looking into the neo-Lovecraftian scene and I found out it basically revolves around S.T. Joshi who is considered the pre-eminent Lovecraft scholar and wrote a biography that's considered definitive called I Am Providence. Basically everyone in these collections somehow has a personal link to Joshi, and he is very involved as the editor in a lot of the publications. I reckon a few emails oiling his ego and you'd get your writing in the next collection he is editor for.

This kind of surprises me. I thought Joshi had been running a one man tag team against SJWs for decades by now, and is widely despised, well, by exactly the sort of in-crowd that controls most of SF&F publishing. The sort that doles out the Nebulas and changed the rules so there's no more Puppy chicanery with the Hugos. I do know he returned his two World Fantasy Awards when they dropped the Lovecraft themed statue. Comments like this especially:

Writing on his blog, Joshi said he had returned the awards he won in previous years to the co-chairman of the World Fantasy Convention, David Hartwell. “Evidently,” Joshi added, “this move was meant to placate the shrill whining of a handful of social justice warriors who believe that a ‘vicious racist’ like Lovecraft has no business being honoured by such an award.”

don't strike me as the sort of thing that'll win you brownie points in the world of Big 5 publishing of this decade, excluding Baen possibly.

tl;dr - I kind of thought being friends or even on good professional terms with Joshi was to kind of invite permanent exile from the cool kids' table, not to improve your chances of getting published. Goes to show what I know.

Honestly I think Frank likes being with someone who lets him revert to childhood. I think he really loves playing with tanks and Nerf guns, watching anime, and talking about spaceships. The fact that he's so obviously superior to Brianna and she can never step up to him on any level is just a bonus. She's the perfect playmate for a giant manchild.

My thought is frank likes that brianna depends on him for everything. Judging by what I've heard about his ex wife and how he treated her, he's incredibly insecure and gets off on the power dynamic of the relationship.

Bravo!!! Working class hero and prospective Congressman John Flynt puts his money where his mouth is and stimulates the local economy by checking out #AlienCovenant, undoubtedly rubbing shoulders with his constituents and remaining connected to his community and supporters! Obviously there would be no reason to NOT claim this expense and others under your campaign fund, right John?

Meanwhile, after taking a shit in the street, AIDS-riddled @RepStephenLynch wastes his time talking to STRAIGHT WHITE MEN about fucking boring policy issues that no one gives a shit about. I mean lets be real people: healthcare issues that directly affect your life and the lives of your loved ones, or MOTHERFUCKING ALIENS???? The choice is clear!!!

Alien: Covenant is shit btw. Fassbender and the visuals are the only good things in that movie. It's an confused idiot plot with idiot characters and you already know the "plot twist" because ...

...you've seen in the trailer that Fassbender is playing two androids that look alike.

Wu has the same shitty taste in SciFi as always.

Sorry I should of been clearer. I wasn't talking about the politics of the scene, it was more in regard to terrible writing going to press because of connections that was being talked about regarding Frank's story, and I was just describing an example where I had observed blatantly obvious sci-fi cronyism.

I don't think Joshi gives a shit about political correctness or stuff like that. One of the stories in a collection he edited was so overtly racist that I was actually shaking my head at one point and couldn't believe it had gone to press. The scene itself seems quite diverse though with at least a couple of its big names being trans, and plenty of women writers being involved. They don't seem afraid to trash each others work on Amazon and their personal blogs either which is quite funny.

I respect Joshi a lot because of the amount of work he put in to scholarship regarding Lovecraft and his contemporaries/acolytes and making academia take him seriously, but I think he has this idea that he's going to lead a renaissance of weird fiction and is so desperate to recreate that golden era that he will let any kind of mediocre trash on board.

Anyway to summarise and stay on topic; sci-fi is corrupt whatever the politics, Frank Wu sucks and Brianna Wu sucks too.

Yeah I haven't seen it but it seemed like all the 'real' fans of the franchise are hanging their heads right now. The fact that Wu liked it makes it much more likely that it must be a pretentious meandering mess.

By the time John's campaign is over these numbers will be at least double in District 8.

https://today.yougov.com/news/2017/05/17/21-americans-believe-identifying-transgender-menta/

"21% of Americans think that identifying as transgender is a form of mental illness"

...

"Similarly, even though 40% of US adults personally know someone who is transgender, 27% are not open to being friends with anyone who identifies as a transgender man or woman.

Significantly fewer people would consider dating, either casually or seriously, a trans man, woman or non-binary individual – 17%, 16% and 18% respectively. Respondents were even less likely to be open to the idea of engaging in a sexual act of any kind with a trans man or non-binary person (15%), and even fewer would consider intimacy with a transgender woman (13%). In the past twelve months, only 4% of Americans have been on a date with a transgender person."

I don't think anyone has a problem with geeks, but most people do have a problem with snarky know-it-alls talking down to them.

Especially when they're never right about anything at all and shriek about mansplaining whenever corrected by someone who actually knows what they're talking about.

I can only imagine.

Well if this doesn't read like a naked attempt to kidnap and rape Amy Adams, I don't know what is.

The Ray Bradbury Award for Outstanding Dramatic Presentation is not a Nebula. It's presented by the same organization, but it's a different award. Fake science fiction fan tranny doesn't even know what award he just handed out.

These are Nebula Awards. Notice the nebulae:

So how crowded is the Nebula Awards? Is it that important?

Used to be a big deal back when the awards went to the authors of that year's best works. Almost meaningless now that the winners are chosen based on the works' politics and the size of the authors' social justice warrior network.

EDIT: Ninja'd by @Quasar.

Also, alien is better then aliens? Bullshit.
I put it to anyone that aliens is the best action/horror movie with a female protagonist.watching Ripley flamethrower aliens in her underwear is the first time watching a woman in a movie and thinking "damn, this chick is a fucking badass"

It's my opinion that Frank is a stunted child as suggested earlier. I see him as the victim. Brianna is the aggressive one and has the dom personality.

Frank's sister died when he was 12: http://www.frankwu.com/God.html

He probably stopped developing emotionally then. I feel bad for him. I see Frank as Brianna's emotional hostage. She controls him and in return he gets to live a childlike existence free of loss and grief.

Eh, never want to put in a good word for our favorite transbeast, but preferring the original Alien is a perfectly defensible position (although definitely not an obvious one).

Realistically speaking, letting on any kind of mediocre trash is the perfect way of re-creating the era. For maximum effect, pay all the contributors pennies per word, and have some of their checks bounce too. ;)

Wait wait wait, Frank's a Christian? The whitest, cis-est, het-est religion of them all? What would the missus think?
