In the books people with basic income sit on their asses all day and have to work for a year or so in a low end job to prove they are willing to work at all. Earth is also seen by non-earthers as decadent because of it, if I remember correctly. If anything, taking The Expanse as a example for basic income, is not the best of ideas.

Ambien must provide one hell of a buzz because I have never seen someone get so little out of a Congressional internship. You almost have to try to get nothing out of it like Wu did.

You also can't filibuster in the House of Representatives, which is what this stupid bastard is running for. That's a Senate thing.

The fact Wu thinks she's saying something incredibly insightful and intelligent by suggesting that not all Trump voters are evil personified just shows how stupid she is and what a state the American left is in.

I find these occasional "conciliatory" statements by Wu interesting. While we typically classify him as an "SJW", Moldylocks-style Tumblr militancy is very much not his native political language. He's a generation older than today's bomb-throwers, and every once in a while he lets the mask slip by referring to an outdated concept like "cooperation" or "civility".
As a reminder: the biggest backlash he ever got from his fanbase, for any reason, was that time he publicly said capitalism wasn't 100% evil. The only thing really tying John to the extreme left is that they're the ones who'll treat him as stunning and brave for his transgenderism. If he'd stayed John, he might very well have been a Bernie Bro now, or even a Log Cabin Republican.

I wouldn't waste too much optimism on John, unfortunately. As much as these occasional moments of lucidity come and go, they are generally followed by a return to the same slog through the mud swamps of lunacy.

Right, I just find it interesting how different Wu's politics are from his fan base's, on the rare occasion when he expresses a political view rather than a fully-formed moronic policy proposal.
