Pity me, for I listened to the whole of that Empowering Women thing. It was two fucking hours long and there were only about 90 viewers peak. It also impacted my work because I kept having to restrain myself from actually shouting "oh my god, that's such bullshit" at the screen every minute or so. You let Wu talk about herself and she just lies constantly about such petty things. For example, she was talking about her now-abandoned speedrunning hobby. She lied about holding world records, lied about what games she speedruns, lied about her standings in the games she has posted speedruns for, it's just constant lies and half truths.
Things of note:
- Wu broadly hinted that politician Wu would be returning shortly. God help us all.
- She also said she was going to be doing some legal thing jumping on the actiblizz lawsuit bandwagon real soon now. I can hardly wait for what ill conceived idea she's come up with now, it may breath some life in to Wu's waning lolcow status.
- We were treated to a new story about how she had a crush on a boy in the mid-90s who worked at an arcade and used to give her free credits on the Tekken 2 machine. I probably don't even need to rehash the reasons why That Didn't Happen. I will note that all Wu's stories of crushes concern men, which makes sense when you consider the purpose is to bolster Wu's Honest and True Woman cred, but rather flies in the face of her claim to be bisexual.
- Wu enlarged on what the abandoned Anna Megill "Project Untold" would have been, or at least Wu's game part. Apparently it would have been an immediate sequel to Rev60 called Dead Orbit or something like that. The premise was apparently Holiday having to talk Amelia in to fixing the engines or they're going to die using Wu's vapourware emotional tracking game tech. She trotted out her moaning about how VCs wouldn't invest because she's a REAL WOMAN yet again. I have no idea whether she actually got this shit in to a face-to-face meeting with any VCs, but you can imagine how that would have gone. Pitching for a game, so no possibility of VCs getting their money back and the game tech is just an idea that Wu has no idea how to build and doesn't even have a prototype for. Why would anyone ever pass on such an obvious winner.
I think that was all the new content, other than that it was just the usual self-promotion. I do enjoy listening to Wu desperately skirting around the subject that all her ventures have been financed by the Bank of Frank. She even implied that revenue from her podcast bought her house, it was hilarious. I notice though that everyone who interviews Wu in depth always seems to have the impression that Giant Spacekat is an ongoing venture, rather than 5 years defunct at this point. That's always a bit weird since the website isn't even up.
You know what I miss though? The Wu grimaces she always did. At some point she must have learned those grotesque faces weren't doing her any favours and stopped, but does Kiwi Farms get any credit? No. It does add weight to my theory that Wu is an avid reader of self-help books and really thought that stuff she was doing was good body language.
One last thing, she told the story of the twitter death threat where apparently someone said they were a serial killer and was coming to her house to kill her. It inspired me to go look at the truth. Prepare for a surprise, but Wu was bullshitting again. I know, I'm as shocked as you.
Here's what Wu said:
And here's the entire context of what Wu called a death threat and tried to get banned from twitter:
It's a joke about wearing masks. The whole "break in to my house and photograph me" was entirely fabricated. I can't even.
Edit: Oh, I completely forgot to mention. Wu did her fake crying thing again while talking about gamergate. It's such a jarring thing, one second she's acting totally upset and then the next moment she completely forgets about the emotion and it's straight back to normal.
