Holy Fuck. Johnny boy really can't stand anyone to dis-agree with him in the least.

No wonder he's never had a real job because he's really not a people person and I cant see him working in any kind of team based environment.

Semper fi to the Wikipedia editor who added this photo to John's TRUE and HONEST Wikipedia article

"I CAN HAZ LOBOTOMY?"
Is that Natalie O'Brien behind her?

You know, Imma steal from Yahtzee and say studying Wu's tweets might as well be a field of quantum mechanics considering how fast they're gone

@Jaimas, I was called in to work early. But here's the Q interview. Wu calls herself an "investigative journalist" (4:30) made me guffaw. She also sounds kind of like a child using buzzwords... Plus, it's funny that she only is in about 1/2 of the 14 minute interview and then it's given over to another feminist. Wu is only given one mention on an "Open Season on Women" article after Jian's exposure.

It's kind of weird, but she keeps getting like a one line mention in a couple of Jian articles, kind of like she's the only one that wasn't accosted that they could find? And like some people were trying to compare Ghomeshi's abuse of women to GamerGate.

The Ghomeshi Scandal Just Isn't a "Women's Issue"
Elyse Bruce Wordpress Thingy
Ottawa Citizen

And a wild Elliot Rodger mention appears.

And for the life of me, I could have sworn Wu posted something about Jian not coming on to her in any way, but I might just be misremembering. (It would've been in October 2014-ish) I'm not an archivist. :(

This idiot is fucking butthurt when someone points out he's not perfect. Any professional programmer takes being called on their ignorance as a sign they need to learn more, not fling shit like a goddamned manchild.

And that applies regardless of gender.

Guys, go drink some sea water, because I think Wu just absorbed all the salt in the ocean.

Andrea Warner.

Natalie O'Brien is currently on vacation with her brother, Michael McDoesntExist and her husband, Sir Not Appearing In This Film.

I gotta dig into this brain turd. Thank you!

Was this not the same dude who was fapping over Apple TV watch a few hours ago?

Fixed that for ya.

With all this talk about a potential relapse, I wanted to point out something. His "crippling addiction" was to ambien, not OxyContin. These are quite different drugs, although they both tend to be abused by rich white kids so there could be overlap. To those unfamiliar with ambien, it's prescribed for a few different things (off the top of my head sleep apnea comes to mind, but IIRC it can be prescribed as a sleep aid and anti psychotic). Ambien has a low recreational value due to its extreme side effects, and if Wu actually was addicted enough to require in patient rehab for it we're probably just scratching the surface of the insanity of his college daze.

You're supposed to take ambien before you go to sleep, as it's a pretty heavy sedative. People prescribed ambien are prone to "blackouts" (not like a drunken blackout, more like a delirious trance state while still being able to speak kind of blackout). It's not uncommon for people taking ambien as prescribed to sleepwalk, call people on the phone and have whole conversations, get behind the wheel and go for a joyride, rape someone (someone was once acquitted for rape due to ambien's side effects) in the course of a good night's sleep. If Wu relapsed on ambien we'd be seeing significantly loopier/weirder tweets than this. As far as a conventional "high" though, ambien doesn't have half the qualities of oxy. It'd take a special kind of crazy to abuse ambien like that.

It's really only recreational/off-label use is as a sexual enhancer, so it's not unlikely that John reached sluthate levels of chronic masturbation during his addiction. Fun fact: I distinctly remember her mentioning rehabbing at the same facility as Tiger Woods. Tiger Woods admitted to using ambien (although I don't believe he was an "addict") regularly during his sex addiction to enhance the experience.

All this brings us back to early 2000s ambien poppin pre-op John. Assuming he was taking them during the day rather than at night, he was probably a walking basket case. If you force yourself to stay awake on ambien, it apparently has pseudo-psychadelic effects coupled with a blackout/delirium. It's the kind of addiction that would get you to have amnesia from falling off a bike (or getting stabbed in the head), and also the kind that could give you an excuse for calling someone a fat dike or a sand nigger. If this was John's drug of choice there are probably plenty more episodes we just haven't heard about yet. None of my digging has turned up anything relevant though unfortunately.

The way I see it, he was either a full on sex/masturbation addict, a full on basket case, or both.

Okay, let's see. Marco essentially developed tumblr. He then created and subsequently sold both Instapaper and The Magazine. He's currently developing and maintaining Overcast, which includes crazy hacks to make iOS do some crazy shit to audio files. Oh, and Overcast already has an iWatch app. Is there a Rev60 iWatch app? No? Marco also regularly talks about coding topics on his various podcasts, demonstrating that he actually knows objective C and is learning Swift.

So yeah, he wouldn't have a legion of people assuming he knew nothing John, because he actually has a track record of successful iOS and iWatch development, unlike you.

As someone who has experienced the perils of prescription drug abuse, all I can say is Ambien (or Stilnox here in Aus) is really, really REALLY tame.

It's really only effective if the person who is using it has a zero-tolerance to benzos, and even then, its desired effects start to wear off after a few doses. Thats why it usually isn't prescribed in a large quantity (i.e. Rivotril (clonazepam) is prescribed in bottles of 100, whereas Ambien comes in like a box of 14)

Yes its true that people can become addicted to drugs like Ambien, but its definitely imo, a much tamer sleeping aid.

As you mentioned, yes, oxys are a complete different ballgame. That shit is addictive as hell, and its not hard to form a habit even from a prescribed dose (say for, an operation).

Its just funny too, I know SO MANY PEOPLE who got hooked on sleeping aids and painkillers, and like NONE of them had a problem with ambien / stilnox - Everyone kinda knew they were fucking piss weak drugs.

Sorry for the rant, its just interesting to see if Wu really actually did have an addiction to one drug (in this case, ambien) or if we are just scratching the surface.

A lot actually supports that Wu's ridiculously sketchy behavior in College was worsened by said drug.

Just because it's not as addictive and doesn't get you as high as benzodiazepines doesn't mean it's tame. They're hardly comparable. I know someone that's taken it for about 10 years and they consistently black out, just not in any way that your typical drug user would enjoy.

It seems likely considering on the Ol' Miss forum someone mentioned Flynt weaseling his way back into the newspaper after the sand nigger incident. I can't imagine not getting kicked out of most colleges for pulling that, let alone managing to get back on the paper without some kind of excuse. Ambien induced delirium could've been integral to avoiding punishment for it.
