Thanks for contacting us, I'd be happy to speak about the title.
First, some background. I'm the owner of Skortched Urf' Studios (Mark) and I've worked with the author of this product (Chris) for almost ten years now. When I started publishing RPG material Chris did a lot of freelance work for me. He then wanted to publish his own stuff, but didn't want to tackle the behind-the-scenes stuff like laying out products, marketing etc. He wrote, I laid out and found art and it worked out very well. Chris named his imprint Otherverse Games, and Skortched Urf' Studios is the publisher.
Over time Chris took over more and more of the production; doing his own layouts and forming partnerships with artists. At this point Chris does all his own work, but has decided to keep publishing with Skortched Urf' Studios since we've been working together for so long.
I say all that to give you background. Before the title in question (Tournament of Rapists) was published I didn't know a thing about it. I don't vett his work, tell him what he can publish or oversee him.
Now, I don't say that to distance myself from Chris or his work. I say it because it is the truth. Chris is a big boy, he can publish whatever he darn well pleases in my opinion. I for one think he is a mad genius with some of the crazy stuff he comes up with; including *this* title!
What I think most people don't realize is that the participants in these tournaments are the *BAD GUYS* that the PC's are supposed to kill! Most of the "stat blocks" are for monsters/creatures for the PC's to fight! I mean, people are up-in-arms about the TITLE of the book, can you imagine fleshing out the main bad guy who actually puts these things on so your party of good guys can go dismantle the entire organization and kill the Half-deamon Billionaire industrialist who runs it? Now *THAT* is a bad guy worth fighting in my opinion. (See my remark about Chris being a Mad Genius, and I do mean that in a good way!)
Is there a metric ton of shock-value in what he does? Yes, absolutely. Is there a wealth of creativity and world-building in the settings Chris comes up with? Again, yes.
Does he put out safe, kinda like what you already like but with some "twist" to make it a little different titles? Hell no. He's got a setting that pitts pro-life and pro-choice abortion factions against each other in a sci-fi setting with the volume turned up to 11. Is that my cup of tea? Not really. But I do respect the hell out of him for *not* taking the safe route.

Sure, a bunch of people are going to be upset. Some of them will send us nasty emails or post things on forums or whatever. (Most having never actually read the content, just upset about the title.) All his titles are marked clearly as for adults. If you don't want to buy it, then please don't. I do, however, firmly believe in free speech; *especially* when it involves something objectionable. (Yes, it cuts both ways; everyone is free to criticize Chris and I for even putting it out.) I also think Chris is playing "The Internet" like a cheap fiddle because the same, few predictable people that seem to be outraged by *everything* will continue to insist that something on the internet they don't like *must* be destroyed. And now people are talking about his titles and contacting me to ask about them. :-)
I've seen people assume Chris has "stolen" artwork. (He hasn't.) They assume he must be a horrible human being that wants to rape people or whatever. (He isn't. And by the same token, do these same people also think George R.R. Martin wants to have sex with his sister because he wrote about two of his characters engaged in incest?) He's a guy with a huge imagination who loves RPG's.
If a novel with this title was written and Jim Butcher, Anita Blake or Jack Reacher were going after the bad guys it might be a best seller. But Chris makes it a game supplement and everyone who just reads a title assumes that it's about the players to run around sport-raping people for XP? Time to gather up the torches and pitch-forks, right? How many of the most vocal detractors have *actually* read the content rather than just the title?
Shocking title? Yes, 100%. Do I think we should hang Chris, burn his corpse and salt the Earth where his bones lay for *daring* to put out a controversial title (in a long line of them) that no one, anywhere, is under any obligation to purchase? Nah, not really. But that's just my two cents.
Anyway, I do hope that clarifies some of the questions/concerns are about this title. Thanks for contacting us!

This work is in line with the Black Tokyo rpg game line. If you have seen any of the Black Tokyo work by this company and thought, "Gee, I like animae. Maybe I could like that." And then pressed 'Wishlist'. This is representative and a continuation of this lines unique creative angle.
I will add that I am not a fan of these kinds of fetishes. They are too extreme I had to delete the stuff. The fact there is a line thats gone on that long with that kind of stuff in it is incredible to me. This product is the first time the nature of this stuff kind of leaked out into the title. Usually it just says 'Black Toko' and a knowing wink after youve read the first sourebook. This stuff must make the money.
However you feel about this stuff, I suggest you vote with your money. Dont get it if you dont want it. That it draws such a reaction from casual readers means it is provoking a response... kind of like free advertisement. This is a place of business and this is America. They could post up a coffee table quality, Nazi friendly gaming sourcebook if they thought someone would buy it. We would have to swallow it and move on to the pages we really want to participate in. Dont let them stir you up. It is a waste of your energy.
Dont flame. Lets be adults. Feel however you want and talk to your friends about it. If it draws enough interest it will sustain itself. There is apparently a place in this world for amputee midget porn... why not Black Tokyo, abortion wars in space, and the whole Rapist Tournament? If such offends you, dont buy it and dont make it part of your pool of gaming worlds. Spend you 'votes' on stuff you want to support and see more of. I fee it really should be that simple.

Censorship because it offends people is the worst mistake DriveThru Comics can make, because if we were going to censor books based on being offensive, we'd need a planet wide bonfire, and that's a slope no one should descend.
It's a dark setting with a dark premise because the world IRL is not a nice place, and this fictional world is based on one where these sorts of vile monsters are normal, and the moral guardians shrieking about how terrible it is seem to not realize, as the developer put it, the goal is to kill these vicious sexual predators, something I can totally get behind.

Oh god it's Chris Fields! Seriously this guy deserves his own lolcow threads for his RPG books. Seriously, you're only scratching the tip of the iceburg here regarding Fields. Those emails only barely describe what's in some of his other books. I really mean it.
You could have at least bought something less horrible by Fields for fucks sake. Or if you were really wanting to go full anti-sjw in your gamebook choices, grab something like MAID RPG.
EDIT: Should I do a thread on Fields? He himself is less of a lolcow than his works I'd think, so I'm not so certain I should even start one.

I feel ya - I didn't buy this game in particular, but I'm buying MGS5 mostly because of how the inevitable SJW shitstorm.
I haven't done any research on the guy, but now I'm morbidly curious about their backstory... and if this is truly another case of "when lolcow worlds collide."

OK, here's a pretty basic rundown -
Fields is essentially part of the wave of splatbook creators that popped up with the release of the Open Gaming License for the d20 system, specifically aimed at games like 3e and 3.5e Dungeons and Dragons. He's also done some stuff for Pathfinder (I think) and when he's confined to working within a fantasy specific setting on very specific things, he's not too bad.
Let him make his own setting however, and things get very much 'Dare ye enter my magical realm' status. Witches powered by menstruation, a giant space dick, and a literal shit wizard are the least of his sins against humanity.

It depends. Does he actually take his shit seriously, or is he just in it for the lulz? If he's actually trying to defend it as being quality, that might be amusing, but it's also possible he just enjoys doing crazy stuff for the sheer hell of it, which is less lolcow and more troll, if anything. But you could probably do a good Off-topic thread about him, at the very least.
Call me crazy, but who gives a shit? As long as he isn't raping kids or torturing women in his basement, it's fucked up, but if this how he chooses to vent his sexual perversions, I say let him do his thing and let other perverts get off on it so long as they don't do any of this shit IRL.
Banning it because it's fucked up is the same mistake made for FATAL. It only got more notoriety than had it been mocked and ignored, something Wu and the SJW witchburning mobs seem to not understand.

I'm pretty sure he actually takes it seriously, but I've never seen him defending his stuff. Off topic is likely where I'll be putting it then. Something Awful's FATAL and Friends has a very good write up on several of Field's books and it's what first got my attention regarding him and his fetish RPG's.
Of course he might just be someone who genuinely loves to make RPG's and got saddled behind a line of fetish fuel ones but I really doubt that especially after those publisher emails.
I was more speaking to @_blank_ regarding Fields' possible lolcow status. I'm right now of the opinion he doesn't deserve a thread (at least in the lolcow forum) until I actually see some confirmation he isn't just doing this for the sweet sweet shekels of perverted neckbeards.

I would never know that either of these games existed if it weren't for wu. In the case of "slave tetris" nobody would have ever heard of it outside of possibly stormfront if it weren't for people like wu. "PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW THIS IS HORRIBLE" The only thing wu is doing is getting them sales and giving black people sad faces.

It's the most harem anime kawaii uguu game I've ever read, and totally fucking bonkers (and fun). Considering it's basically 90% about serving the Master of the house as a maid and winning his favor, I have a feeling the SJW crowd would throw a fucking hissy fit the second they found out about it... if not for the fact that it's from Japan and as asians can do no wrong, so it gets passed over.
Also you actually bought it? I was sort of joking! Racial Holy War is the most anti-sjw RPG ever made!

@Cynical, I wonder if Wu knows that Slave Tetris is only a mini-game in the... Still really odd slavery game. I watched Jim Sterling's squirty play of it last night. It was made as a kids learning game, but it's pretty much poorly executed.
