2. Games are interactive media.
You complain about "too many buttons" and commands, indicating, as many said, that you almost never play games. Here's a spoiler alert: Gamers adapt to whatever input device they play. You bitch about the "sixteen buttons" of your PS3 controller (counting the D-Pad as four buttons, because you're such a smart person you), and act like they're a big deal when it's a fucking incremental change at best and ergonomically designed for ease of use.

3. Revolution 60's Story is Shit.
Revolution 60 has a woefully bad story that is hilariously predictable.

Additional points:

1. Isn't it sexist to assume that women would be intimidated by all the buttons on a standard controller? I swear, there's a Rev60 review out there (by a woman) that mentions how stupid and offensive that assumption is. What I'm guessing is going on there is that Brianna is intimidated by anything more complicated than a NES controller and, because she's a totes 100% authentic woman, it must be that all women are afraid of controllers too. It's that ego of hers acting up again.

2. I swear, Brianna is a closet edgelord. She's obsessed with motorcycles, guns, leather pants, and violence. Whenever someone asks her about what makes the writing for Rev60 good, she starts rambling about how all the endings are dark and that the characters die and stuff. If Brianna Wu could fulfill her deepest fantasy of going back in time to be a teenage girl, she would totally be that one scene girl who hangs around the goths that always gets suckered into buying cigarettes or beer.

You do, as anyone who has traded on Steam can attest.

Obvious setup.
Actually, there is another theory: That this girl just accepts all Steam friend requests regardless of context.

In which case, I would like to reference Yahtzee Croshaw's Golden Desk Insurance Company and dismiss her claims of harassment based on one of my favorite policies:

Totally asking for it.

Hey, Wu. Remember when you were bitching about sexism in games? About how certain video game characters can't be certain things? About how some designs should be a certain way but others shouldn't?

Right, so feminists can get their Rev 60, but no one else can have their niche title. I guess they don't spend enough time bitching on Twitter so they don't have any privilege points to spend.

For some reason, Rev 60 reminds me of Deus Ex if it was developed and written by a retard.

Well, given what likely goes on in the Wu household, this is likely true

I've seen most of your feed today, who the hell are you referring to?

We already know you want an echo chamber, thanks for the confirmation.

Edit: Wu burned some past tweets again. Nothing major, but since I don't usually have time to do more than just pick up the latest tweets and drop a few quick comments most of the time, could someone help archive this for me?

It's Mass Effect written by an exceptional individual, all the way down to the character's outfits, and the dialogue tree.

I generally stay out of this thread, because I don't find anything funny about this. The hypocrisy just frustrates me to no end. "Stop mansplaining", as has been mentioned repeatedly, you grew up a man, a privileged, white man. "Sop racesplaining", as has also been mentioned, you're white. I've seen hypocrites before, but the fact that they can contradict themselves with every other post on twitter just irks me, because surely people should be able to see it.

At the same time, it's a bit like a trainwreck, and I can't look away. I'm waiting for the inevitable crash and burn, and the scramble to try and save face, but until then I'm just disheartened that there are people defending Bri, and hanging on the Twitter post of someone so, seemingly, unhinged and hypocritical. There are plenty of devs out there, or people trying to break in, both men and women, who actually know how to code, don't indulge in self-insert fantasy, don't try to insert themselves into political b.s. to gain clout, and who were, unfortunately, not lucky enough to be born into (and marry into) wealthy families that could indulge their every whim, even if it cost them $400,000 U.S. They're toiling in obscurity, much like the people that actually worked on Rev 60, while Bri plays on twitter and, seemingly, lets her animals die for her own vanity.

Most of these unknown devs also have the courtesy not to throw away their whole philosophy for the chance to see their self-inserts to actually make it into a game. It's hard to play the "Women shouldn't be objectified" card when your whole art design revolves around women in catsuits and miniskirts. The need for a re-design and update should have been an admission of guilt, but instead people laud her for correcting it, instead of getting it right the first time. It boggles the mind.

the 'it's not meant for you' excuse is obnoxious as fuck. it's not just Wu that uses it i've seen a number of devs deflect any kind of criticism by claiming that whoever is being negative/critical is just not the target audience. i'm someone who enjoys narrative driven+mechanically simple games one of my favorite games is The Cat Lady (an 90s-esque adventure game that uses all of 5 buttons). i'm more or less the person that would be interested in something like Rev60 but i'm not because nothing about it is interesting save for the design of a space ship or two. if people are being dismissive of your game that's your problem, not theirs.

It's very hard for me to see past the frustrating aspect of this too, given that Flynt's entire persona is a direct consequence of privilege of the highest calibre. I can completely see where you're coming from.

And people can fill this post up with rainbows, too, but I am also waiting for Flynt to crash and burn, and he will. Flynt has money and connections, to be sure, but not the stupid kind of money and connections that politicians or CEOs of important companies have. One day, Flynt will say or do something unforgivably stupid in public, and the entire narrative will unravel. @Jaimas is not the only one documenting Flynt's encyclopaedia of hypocrisy and outright hatred.

Until that happens, I know that I would never want to trade places with John ever. I would rather die unknown and poor that live the way John does.

Flynt can't even get verified by Twitter, and shitty YouTube/Vine "stars" are. I'm confident if he ever releases the steam version and when it bombs, he'll go full exceptional individual.
More than he does now.

I've said this before for Assigned Male, but imo SJW is a fad that's dying out. Very few people outside of Tumblr circlejerks and SJW cults take terms like "cisnormality" and "privilege" seriously, and their outright dogmatic and almost toxic demeanor is showing. People like Wu and Dobson who basically are nothing more than the embodiments of SJWism are going to be gone in a year or two when people except the extreme nuts abandon it.

Pretty surprised to be honest, used to be that you'd need 500K+ followers to be considered for it, nowadays you just have to be friends with someone at Twitter which is why a lot of "who the hell is that?" 2K follower SF/SV journos are verified these days.

Not quite - playing with a neutral decision attitude by not leaning to one of the two other bitches in that game (read: not Minnie since she's somehow still the world-domination ditz from Soc. Uncon. or that's what Wu wants people to do despite it not affecting the game in the slightest) actually gets everybody killed.

Read: the actual decisions made by a capable, level-headed leader of a group will get everybody killed for no fucking reason.

Like, I think I might need to dive into the old R. 60 thread when I get the time and pick apart what was learned about how the game treats its own characters - no question Minnie is actually a representation of the CIS patriarchy that "rules the world" or some shit that is so loved by antagonistic groups (read: Chessboard, after all that 96.31% obedience rate is highly vaunted despite the fact those dumb-ass rules specifically indicate Minnie should have been killed by Chessboard for disloyalty at some point prior) but fuck if I can't remember the other girl's name with the beret but there's some connection to SJW ideals there.
Oh you poor, poor bastard.

You had to sit through the "story" of Rev60.

Do you have the chance in Rev60 to kill or detain beret-girl after she is obviously compromised and obviously going to kill you?

I see what you mean, but I fear the contrary: because the continual pushing of what is acceptable keeps stretching the bounds of outrage further and further, yesterday's unconventional (trans) is outdistanced by today's increasingly common, (otherkin, etc.) and while you're certainly right that the more you stay on the internet, the larger the problem seems, (particularly around tumblr, DA, etc.) Wu's continued success at "marketing" herself to make "speeches" where she whines and self-pities for and hour shows that, shockingly, whether due white guilt or a combo platter of identity-politics explanations, this way of thinking is becoming increasingly tolerated.

If anything, the process seems to be speeding up. I didn't think we'd see the celebration of transgender in an adult, family man in my lifetime, and though I suspect its more due the money to be made by isolating and capturing marketable demographics, that very reason makes it frighteningly sustainable.

The thing about identity politics which makes it so damaging is the "divide and conquer" trick. Instead of getting the poor underclasses of economically oppressed peoples to mass under the common banner of penury, this protracted compartmentalization into rigid group identities DIVIDES everyone, and simultaneously sends people chasing their own tails, essentially, when sociopaths like Wu realize there's a buck to be made in selling fear and loathing to millenials. It's funny; Wu, a Gen X-er who failed at social identification, by all accounts, in her own age group and generation, has reinvented herself as essentially a one-woman FOX News for the SJWs.

She reports on the outrage-du-jour, is quick to brand the infidels who don't march in lock-step to the ideology, and deals in a very binary sort of morality, where the good is always the enemy of the perfect.

Not only is it unrealistic, I suspect it stems from Wu's unstable mental state in great part. Wu will never be satisfied, because she's fighting a battle with herself, her parents, and her legit identity as a priviliged white man. Turning that anger outward has garnered her money and fans, but the ephemeral nature of this stuff will guarantee that in a year, two at most, her spotlight will have considerably dimmed.

Seeing as how Brianna wu, epic warrior for good, is clearly filling some deep need in her psyche for acceptance and positive self-impression, (The Batman comparisons, the constant and tone-deaf self-congratulation) when this role fades she will become a ball of anxiety, more than she already is.

Acceptance, I think, is what she's after. The reason she brands those who mock her game "bros" is because, in a very real sense to her, she's fighting against those college frat boys who made fun of her when she was a confused pre-op.

You can't beat the ghosts of the past, they have to be let go, if you're to have any peace at all. But Wu's whole identity is revenge against an unaccepting world, and as such, its inherently negative.

It would almost be sad if she wasn't so arrogant, irritating, narcissistic, dishonest, and effective at crucifying her enemies.

Hey guys, I have a question. After 4+ years of using my PS3 for movies and CDs, I've finally begun getting into console gaming, and now I have a PSN ID and a bunch of games and a working knowledge of what all the little buttons on the controller do. At what point can I expect to start being oppressed on the basis of my ovaries? So far I've had no trouble playing games with non-quicktime-event-based gameplay, and most of the people I've met in the new game fandoms have been lovely. Is there some kind of time scale for when I can expect my first death threats? And how about the aneurysm which will soon prevent me from understanding a standard controller? I'd like to be able to plan ahead for medical leave and/or fleeing my house if I'm going to take the risk of being a Girl Gamer.

They're trolling you by not trollling you. You're dealing with gamers who are so hateful and misogynistic that they won't even do the work of sending threats. Their sense of entitlement is so strong that they won't even lift a finger, instead expecting you to do all the work for them by sending yourself threats through sockpuppet accounts.

@GleamingTheQ-Bert

I understand your concerns, but most of Wu's latest exposes are from sources that have Wu listed as a friend or acquaintance in some manner. Wu has been pulling all of her connections in an attempt to stay relevant, but she hasn't actually been invited to anything recently, at least iirc, on the basis that she's "Brianna Wu, Game Dev" as opposed to "Brianna Wu, who is my friend." She's quickly losing relevancy and she knows it, which is why she's desperately pulling on all of her strings and being this huge "controversial" person that's at the center of everything. Controversy breeds publicity and keeps her in the public eye, which is all she has outside of a Rev 60 Steam Port which will most undoubtedly be the shittiest thing on Steam since Cookie Simulator 2015. Trans people are becoming more accepted, and hell you could probably say you're an "otherkin" and just get a bunch of weird looks but no one's gonna throw a trash can at you for being a fucking moron, but Wu represents the extremes, the things that will never be fully accepted in the public eye because of how insane it is. She is to trans and womyn what Stormfront is to White Nationality, basically.

So...how is that so different from what i said? No one's talking mass appeal YET, that's the point. The trend direction was the point, and we both agree (i think) she'll get gradually irrelevant, so whether she's invited in a social or professional capacity, it's on the way out. I was speculating more on her motives. Dont really see how that contradicts you, since you didnt address it as far as I can see.

The SJW trend, this sort of hipster casual shoot-from-the-hip dressed up liberalism, on the other hand, I feel is only getting started, unfortunately.
