Going through all their comments is rather exhaustive, given they seem to have tweeted quite a bit, but you guys should check out @Zerilos, @bockaguyjim and @_nwinant's comments to Geth.

Also, I found it funny how they accused Geth of wanting personal info. He said all he wanted to know was if that link had false info, and if so, he said he would denounce it and even advised Wu to sue for libel if it was false.

I don't think something like that would have happened without Wu constantly going on about it.

At various times Wu had implied to have gotten brain injuries, the only one I remember right now is the ones where she was claiming she got stabbed in the head. It may not be something she talks about anymore because saying that you're eccentric because of brain injury is going to hurt your cred when Victim A says "You know bri did something weird the other day...." and newfriend B hears this and goes "hmm when bri first met us she said she was brain damaged and it made her do weird things. Maybe I should keep her at arms length"

It's already hard to fight doubt when you're making claims of massive conspiracies and shit. It may also be part of her former life and thus unmentioned. I think the only reason her previous 200k failure that "taught her more than college" even gets mentioned is because she's convinced that the experience gives her cred. Maybe it does with certain people. Letting people know she's part of the population who have parents who can put them in charge of shit.

As far as Wu's gender identity being public knowledge: She already said that only trans people should comment on trans issues. A completely fucked up stance and one you can only have if you're trans unless you're also a massive hypocrite who knows what's best for other people.

Not to mention the fact bri could just as easily install google voice &or a call blocking app &/or other various telephony solutions, I'm certain that a software engineer being harassed from one side of the internet to the other would find this, she could even roll her own so that every one of her close friends has a different personal phone number they can call her at, and then she can additionally lock them all down by pin, time of day, caller id, automatic recording of all calls, all for free or almost free if she is indeed a software engineer.

But whatever, nah just change the SIM card on your phone and pay to keep all these cards activated and make it so nobody knows how to call you.

If she hasn't gotten a threat in almost a month it's not like people are just blasting her with waves of randomly generated caller IDs. Since she talked about jace and tyce both before and well after.... their special time, we can assume if she was getting blasted until her phone was useless we'd be hearing about it.

As you've noted she probably has a stack of old SIM cards laying around and she wants to start the narrative that she just keeps a pile of them in her wallet for the numerous times of the week when her phone is rendered absolutely useless by waves of relentless harassers. She can pull them out when she's giving people her business card and later they can see her talking about it online.

I love this tweet. It brings up a very big divide between how crazy works for Brianna Wu as opposed to people who aren't insane. Many people see this tweet and immediately assumes it's the equivalent of Vade-esque cry-typing, but no - cursory examination shows a far sillier reason for all this.

In fairness you don't actually need a degree to be a good coder. Some of the most competent guys I know are largely self taught. Wu's a fucking idiot though, So I doubt that's true for her.

So I've started listening to this podcast called Oh No Ross and Carrie.

They talk about fringe religious groups, paranormal claims, and pseudoscience. It's pretty interesting, especially the ones where they infiltrate cults. Currently the second most recent episode is them trying Soylent, and they did not have much good to say about it. My favorite part was when they described, in vivid detail, how bad/much Soylent made them fart. Definitely worth a listen.

Agreed, but it remains odd that there's very little evidence of her actually being able to write code. She regularly mentions that she can, but there's just no evidence. Her education doesn't support it, her employment says nothing about it, she appears to have no involvement in any open source projects, and she had to hire someone to write the code for the game she "developed". She seems to be someone in love with the idea of being a coder but either lacking the talent or the will to actually do it.

I imagine that if one were to confront him directly on this (), he would most likely go on the usual diatribe about how Bill Gates or someone similar has no formal qualifications yet everyone considers him a software engineer.

Well, Gates kind of slithered in and snapped up QDOS for a pittance, itself a knockoff of CP/M. And Jobs and Woz based the Mactintosh in large part on concepts they "borrowed" and developed from Xerox PARC. But yes, they both actually made things, too. Unlike Wu, who is a useless pimple.

Looks like Sir Tim Hunt's peers (or whatever the fuck you call people who went to the same college and became successful) weren't too happy about the knee-jerk reaction either.

I doubt Wu has enough sway to have actually had some or any impact of Hunt's forced resignation but Wu's ego doesn't know that. So it's pretty telling that when an accomplished person is forced out of a job all Wu can say is "Sorry" and walk away. If Wu really felt it was an injustice she participated in she'd be crying about it as much as she cries about her own problems.
