It's funny because the last person who thought he was Batman was Jack Thompson. Why do people who hate video games keep comparing themselves to Batman?

It's rather ironic really. There was a Batman the Animated Series episode where the Riddler traps Commissioner Gordon in a virtual reality game and is willing to kill Gordon just to prove his riddles and traps are better than Batman's brains, and Batman not only adapts to the messed up rulebook, he exploits flaws in the Riddler's own engine to crash the game and save Gordon while leaving the Riddler to suffer the consequences of having a bad case of Dunning-Kruger.

If anything, the people who make video games for ego related reasons and want to destroy and humiliate their opposition describes the Riddler better.

Actually, if you look into it, it's pretty obvious that the Riddler Gamergate joke was making fun of Brianna Wu herself, which is probably why Wu hates the game now. After all, it's an egomaniacal psychopath running puff-pieces trying to paint her opposition as naught but a common criminal, the result was the tubernets going "dude, it's Batman, he's saved thousands of lives, stop being a fucking moron." And thus, Riddler is apoplectic, because, like Wu, he believes himself the smartest individual on earth but it doesn't matter if no one recognizes his genius.

Even if that's not the writer's intention, it's a good theory, and if we go off my above speculation about who fills the Riddler's role better, what does that say about the people who fall into Batman's place in the metaphor above?

Probably the same reason some autists seize on Rorschach. They identify with Batman's rather wide sociopathic streak. They usually don't have his actual positive qualities.

Thats not really to do with rights though? It sounds more like a criminal matter.

I think it's "rights" in regards to "the right to not live in fear of being attacked or murdered for what you are".

Which, as you said, is not so much a legal issue as it is a social issue.

Exactly. As far as I can tell, trans people have more or less the same rights as anyone else under the US law. Social Acceptance is beyond the realm of the government.

I would say that the government should try to avoid trans people being victims of crime (such as murder and assault) just as a form of overall crime reduction. But aside from that it isn't the governments business what people think of trans people

I bet the batman gamergate reference wasnt meant to be pro or anti, it was either just put in as a reference or because they knew it would start another slap fight along the lines of what's been going on for months. "Gamergate is winning and the opposition is stupid, here's why!" "No, gamergate is stupid and WE'RE winning, here's why"

Actually, so far I haven't exactly figured out what Gamergate is about. What I understand is that it is a kind of movement of videogame-loving boys who don't like girls trespassing into their play corner, turning everything pink, infecting everyone with cooties and playing house instead of fighting aliens. That said, I don't exactly want to learn more because I'm too old for playground fights.

9/10. Best one since CatParty. Well-done.

Kind of weird that people think there's a definitive Batman. He changes with each writer on what he will and won't do. We've had gritty and violent Batmen, light-hearted Batmen that just tie the villains up in rope for the cops to find, Batmen that will break the average thug's arm because he IS a vigilante. Batmen that will beat the shit out of someone before actually doing detective work. His determination is the one character trait that all iterations share.

Another thing to point out is that the situation in Arkham Knight is a bit different than in the other Rocksteady games. In those he was trying to contain the villains, keep them from spreading to the rest of Gotham. In AK Gotham is already fucked. The average citizen was evacuated and the only people left are criminals along with their kingpins. Gotham is a warzone and the police are getting their asses kicked so hard that they don't even challenge Batman's presence anymore. I think they could have established the desperation of the situation a bit more before going straight into the action so Batman being even more distant than usual made more sense but whatevs. I get the feeling the opening diner scene was supposed to do that but while it was an amazing opener it didn't get quite the job done.

TL;DR: Wu has a point that Batman is colder but it's for good reason. However there is no "my Batman", just your favorite Batman.

Totally, which isn't a rights issue as she seems to be trying to make it. It's a fucktards attacking people issue which stems from a cultural issue. So uh-- someone make a Will and Grace for trans people and we'll be on our way.

Will the characters have passing privilege? Because regardless of your answer the trans demographic would get pissed.
