It's funny that Brianna Wu assumes this is harassment-related, especially after her gamergate misfire earlier.

Strictly speaking, that's true, it's much like Wine for Linux. Unfortunately, it's still giving Flynt skewed data since it only supports certain versions of Windows and is constrained by Boot Camp's own limitations on what Mac software it can emulate natively to interface well with it.

A purely Windows based OS on Windows based hardware would provide a much better testing ground since Wu wouldn't have to worry about the limitations of Boot Camp possibly affecting the gathered playtesting data.

The cpu, ram, and so on aren't any different between a mac and a pc. The macbook I used to use did overheat like a motherfucker though; cause, you know, fuck interal fans.

Very true, but Wu takes bad care of his Macs and is apparently a dumbass who is gambling they can upgrade a 2009 Mac to run Oculus based on what amounts to guesswork.

So how is Wu's monetary situation anyway? Sure, her Patreon is losing altitude like a Turkish airliner, but that doesn't tell us how much money she has.

Why isn't she just buying a PC on Amazon? She could even declare it a business expense for tax purposes. (That is, if you can do that in the US). Because, ya'know, she needs it to develop and test games.

I am really getting mixed signals here. For all the money she dumped into games, her dogs, food supplements like Soylent and whatnot, she could have bought her own little serverfarm by now, or at least that new Apple paperbin computer. Yet she is still sticking with her old 2008 Mac.

Sure she isn't really interested in finishing Rev60, but one would assume that buying a new Mac is the first thing on her list as soon a new one comes out.
 
I was under the impression that they live in a house owned by Frank's family and don't pay rent or anything. That should free up quite a bit of money for new computer things, assuming it's true.
 
On money:

Yep, they live rent-free, and Frank's salary is large, and they have no kids. Brianna can do this indefinitely, or until Frank puts his foot down.

On computers:

Brianna is half-assing this. If the requirements for the platform are a Windows machine, get a freaking Windows machine. She could dedicate it for work and make it a business expense.
