That gameplay looks grindy as hell, if it takes you that long to defeat a single enemy..

There are somewhere between 20-24 "fights" in the game. Every single one of them is against a single enemy on the same grid, and the later enemies take more damage. So yeah, it's incredibly grindy and unfun, especially since the game can be won by standing on one square and letting the enemy walk into the bullets you shoot and very rarely moving in a single direction to avoid an AOE attack.

That's a pro-tip she felt needed to be included in the companion book so you probably owe me $4.99 for the TIP and/or TRICK.

I suppose she's hoping all the bukkake-load of QTEs will make the game fun...I think that's just going to make the whole thing worse.

i really love how cupcake crisis shows little girls that they too can be engineers by having the brilliant main protagonist do kindergarten math and bake cupcakes. It's literally like one of those shitty educational games you could get at retail stores in the 90's, only in 2016.
I think 80s/90s edutainment is what she's shooting for but shit that was exciting in 1980 is not going to be exciting to kids now in 2016.

This let you go "whee I'm playing a video game!" and it motivated kids to do math for hours on their own. Now days internet advertisements sometimes have better gameplay.

It's supposed to be mathblaster with a female protagonist so that girls can play the game, learn math, and get early exposure to a female engineer. It's not a bad idea, I just doubt the game is engaging enough to make little girls wanna play it on their own. The hard part of a kids edutainment game is making it fun... this has been the challenge since forever.

If brianna had bothered to notice most popular apps are re-hashes of very old games (angry birds, flappy bird) and went here:
http://www.myabandonware.com/browse/genre/educational-3/

Played them until she found one that was engaging and easy to code (lots of this was written by one person in basic in their spare time), and then made the protagonist a female engineer or other role model. she could have made a game as a community college project for guidance instead of hiring programmers and easily broke even and used the experience to crap out a series of ever more complicated games, each turning a small profit and then built a brand making fun educational games for girls.

For a lot less than 400k.

Actually I'm going to do this now.

OT a little but I laughed when I went to that link (in the Education category) and saw Icewind Dale...

Shut up. Amanda is a genius animator! GENIUS!

Any game, Brianna? Let's just do that quickly. I'll make it easy, so how about the most dudebro game on the market, made entirely for idiotic men? Let's seehow Rev60 holds up.

I know it's old, but I seriously cannot believe Brianna's ego around this game. She's like one of those parents who legitimately thinks that their child's scribbles is art and signs of a deep future talent.
It's a good thing John's reproductive genitals are rotting in some biohazard bin, because he would totally be the kind of parent to wheel out his kid and gush about how perfect they are and all the other kids in his class are just dragging him down. If that teacher wasn't so incompetent, they would have skipped a few grades by now. Etc...etc...

Dudebro game's character also clearly expressing more emotion in that one stillframe than Wu's Mary Sue has in her entire game.

Also, gotta point it out: More diversity too.

Now I don't give a shit about diversity, especially when its forced, but seeing how much Brianna talks about it it really stinks that there is such an absence of it in her game. Seriously, Brianna, this was your chance to show the world the kind of game you wanted more of. You could have been the change you were demanding from the industry. Instead, you just made a bunch of Marysue, Barbie White girls.

There's only like, four characters in the game not counting Crimson 09 (who ironically is the ONLY not white character since he's Chinese I think)? And none of them can be anything BUT white.

Holiday: Wu's self-insert, must be white.

Minnie: Bad Guy type character to Wu. Can't make anything but white or else would seem racist

Third girl: so insignificant that I can't even remember her name. Can't make white or else it would look like minimizing racial presence into unimportant roles.

Unknown: Robot.
