People, brace yourselves.

One of the biggest Bribri meltdowns yet is coming. She's lost major ground today, and with Rev60 coming (or failing to come) in 72 hours, it will soon be time for us to harvest.

The whole conversation for you guys.

Watching John try to weasel his way out of looking like a dumbfuck is hilarious.

Heh, she's just getting salty because more and more people are starting to realize that her whole "game company" is basically just the world's most expensive game of pretend.

Snarling at randos on twitter while claiming to be some kind of feminist tech mogul.
Nice professionalism, Bri. See, this is why you actually hire someone to manage your social media presence, instead of just lying about it.
Also, it would free up time for you to finish your fucking game.
You know, Rev60 is rapidly becoming the new Duke Nukem Forever. An eternity of delays and excuses, followed by an embarrassing failure.

Thank you! Citation, Wu! It isn't hard. Well, if you make statistics up it is, but if you actually research beyond two minutes in between Twitter rants you might find something that supports your theories. Maybe...
I'm sure that science is super concerned about getting good data about female gaming in the 1980s.

Othering a bunch of people so you can rally against them is something that cult leaders and dictators are known for.

Whoever wu is arguing with is making a really good point too. In 1988 most gamers were children. This data was probably collected to sell consoles, the primary users and the consumer were mostly different people, really what adult would even play a game that takes 8 hours to beat and won't let you save? Virtually every girl in my neighborhood growing up played video games as did my sister.

Pretend, sir? I'll have you know that "Brianna" and "Natalie" are very real - and desirable. So much so that Post hired the two of them to do a national TV spot.

Absolutely agreed. I played NES in th 80s. My crackhead step dad sold it, and I eventually found an Atari at a garage sale. Moved on to PC gaming and stuck there. I don't remember a time when I wasn't gaming. I don't remember girls ever being excluded, or dismissed as people who enjoyed gaming in the 80s.

My point, though perhaps not clear, was that any study can prove virtually anything you want. But, the fact that she has never given a source for her data is unprofessional at minimum.

A little off topic, but South Park is tearing the whole "safe space" shit a new one and I can't help but think of John while watching it.

Thank god. Publicly shaming this behavior and making it a laughing stock is the only way to put an end to it. South park is in a great position because they're mostly offensive and neutral.

I was in a serious car accident at work last week (I walked away with minor injuries), and I very quickly became a bit uncomfortable with the amount of ass-pats I was getting from coworkers in the days following. This experience has made Wu's manufacturing of B.S. threats to her safety all the more alien to me.

Now that you mention it, I had a similar situation and felt the same way... I was in a motorcycle accident and I just wanted people to stop asking if I was ok and let me get back to work. If I had complained about it as much as Wu does about a perceived "mansplaination" on twitter, I'd never have gotten anything done (much like Wu) and probably would have never gotten on a motorcycle again.

Just since I forget if it was a thing or not now, if Wu doesn't deliver on Devolution60, does that open him up to legal action with the new Kickstarter ToS thing from a while back?

The company headquarters is just a cardboard box with "Giant Spacekat" written on it crudely in marker (complete with backwards "S," and an unintentional misspelling of "cat"). Inside the box, the walls have drawings of "super high tech computers" on them, on which Wu and her team (a bunch of action figures and stuffed animals) work diligently on her "game."

Pretty much because The ToS of kickstarter demmand now that you have to deliver the product or return the money iirc
It doesn't look like Wu will be on the hook for any money even if she never finishes the game.

She could just say "Look, I spent all your money and the game's not done", and that would pretty much be the end of it unless backers decide to sue her. And let's be real, anyone donating money to this knew they were throwing their money down a black hole from the get-go.

She would have to prove that legally, or be subject to recompense by the backers. According to that very link.

Right, but Kickstarter's going to wash its hands of the whole thing if she mouths some perfunctory apologies and doesn't say anything flagrantly fraudulent. At that point it'll be up to individual backers, and I doubt anyone's going to take Wu's shell corporation to court over their $20 "investment".
What happens if backers do chargebacks on their credit card for a kickstarter pledge? Is that even possible after this much time?

EDIT for more: and it doesn't look like there were any individual high-dollar backers who might make it a personal crusade to get their money back. By my count there couldn't be anyone who pledged over $500 or so.
