Well something good came from that picture:
As I was considering if she looks like a female version Edgar from the first Men in Black movie (add: since her face really doesn't seem to be properly attached to the skull beneath), I found out that the same actor also played Private Paula in Full Metal Jacket and Wilson Fisk in the new Daredevil series... and that is everything I learned from Wu today (or ever).
 
Can we please discuss more about the VR segment? It isn't long and it includes Wu stating she is going to create VR software capable of reading and interacting with human emotion. Did the room all face palm at once?

I've not even gotten as far as how nonsensical it is from a technological point of view because I'm still stuck on how autistic John must be in order to not be able to empathise with any form of narrative that doesn't directly cater to his feelings and explicitly tell him how to feel. But on the other hand it is totally in sync with John's rhetorical style, namely: "If you're not me, you don't understand me, therefore I'm always right and you're always wrong because lived experiences and listen and believe"

Damn if you can sit through that, then semper fi man. Semper fi all the way. I can maybe stand through about five minutes of anything Wu. After that my face starts to melt.

Part of why these assholes piss me off is they didn't spend a decade playing by themselves in a basement somewhere because they don't have friends... and then they didn't spend all day after class studying in college and they don't want to put in any time getting their soul sucked out as a corporate code monkey or tech support person when they enter the workforce.

They scream sexism because their friends aren't waltzing in and becoming CEOs and lead devs and principal architects. Other chicks are there, but not them or their pals and they only want in now because they see condos and lattes and expensive parties and want some of that shit too.
Not that any of this matters when brianna wu was a child in the south in the 80s there were no game developers of any kind around for her to see. Nor were they often mentioned in game magazines at the time like they are today...... but supposing they were Brianna was a fat rich white kid with a penis... there has never been a shortage of fat white programmers with penises to be role models.

Wu literally just makes shit up that sounds right and then leaves the stage. Also I think that wu probably wears that skirt because it's the only way she can show any piece of her body that looks like it belongs on a woman in her 30s or 40s. Why she is wearing a motorcycle jacket when she can't ride a motorcycle in that skirt, has no motorcycle with her, and it's 70 degrees in SFO right now is anyone's guess. It's also an extremely stupid coat to travel with because of the pads it's never going to fit nice in a suitcase and will attract TSA because clothes usually aren't dense or chunky in spots.

PS she is ugly and weird.
PPS I don't like her as a person and I think she lies a lot.

All you need is some news organization running a story about Wu to do some fact-checking, like the New York Times did about that 9/11 woman who was never in the towers. Is she claiming to have done keynotes in some permanent format or only in tweets she is burning?

I'm sure wu is training a neural network on twitter and peggle right now. The really ignorant part of that statement is that she thinks the VR would be the cutting edge of that tech but it's actually one of the easiest and best understood hurdles. Also people have several times over attempted to create "Social Interfaces" and we ended up with clippy and microsoft bob. Right now there's pepper and they built this whole robot that can dance and tell jokes and all this stuff but the emotion engine pretty much just looks for angry and happy faces and listens for happy and sand words. There were 500 engineers working on this thing and it's a selling point and that was the best they could do with the tech.

The stupidity of wu's lies and exaggerations reveal how little she knows.
 
I wonder if Wu realizes most reputable plastic surgeons offer free revisions if they fuck up as badly as they apparently did with her.
 
I'm only a couple minutes in, but Wu really can't hold still for a second. It's bizarre, even when her head is mostly still and she's not speaking, her eyes and mouth are still flapping at 100mph. And why does she keep looking away from the guy and then back at him, over and over?
... and major LOL @ the part where she talks about "when you talk to people in substance abuse recovery". Where could she have ever met people like that?

I just got off the road today and I don't have the patience or attention span to listen to Wu, but I assume her VR software is going to be part of her long list of other things she says she's going to do like build Revolution 60 for Android, or make a sequel to Revolution 60 with an actually diverse cast of characters instead of her brand of bondage Sailor Moon ripoffs that were born under power lines, or y'know, actually doing anything to help women in tech.

I've noticed in almost all of the pics I've seen of Wu, she always is wearing either some nasty unwashed t-shirt an jeans that have been yanked out of a lawnmower, some kind of miniskirt/ cocktail dress thing, or this "I ride motorcycles" biker chick ensemble. In any case, she dresses herself up like what a teenage boy might think a woman would probably look "sexy" in. I honestly believe this is all part of Brianna's fantasy and has no real concept of how to look professional.
