I'm not surprised John Flynt would want to suppress free speech. People with something to hide will go to ridiculous lengths to suppress the truth.

Actually I feel that Wu and his cohorts honestly want free speech.

They want to be able to say what ever they want and your free to speak your opinion as long as it the same opinion as theirs. If you dis-agree, well then that's just plain old hate speech and should be repressed for the betterment of all.

They are probably honest in their intentions just the hypocrisy gets in the way.

They chose to die on the violent video games hill as of late and it's bought them nothing but grief. Wu is still spouting nonsense as usual, but was wise enough not to dwell on doubling down on that, and my guess is that Wu saw how bad they were getting razzed and decided to pick (very marginally) less idiotic things to rant about.
I wasn't aware of this but I'm not surprised an "activist" who doesn't really know video games that well would make the mistake of going after violence. It was done already and now that games are mainstream the support the previous movements got in the form of idiot moms doesn't exist as too many of them play at least some violent video games themselves. Besides all except the most violent games are nothing compared to the place our movies and tv are at these days... or our news.

Wu probably knew better. The best strategy is to just stick with feminism and then spice it up from time to time with whatever SJW topic of the day is relevant to get some revitalizing tweets, tumbls, and facebooks.
Just never ever ever let yourself look too much like some moral majority pedopriest from 1992. I'm somewhat surprised that anita wasn't more careful.

These were especially stupid, and now I have to address them:

1. lol "Sex-positive feminist"

.....Brianna you fucking tool, that article you linked is about people getting raped and then having evidence of their rape released on the net. That has nothing to do with fucking pornography. You intentionally worded this in a way to make it seem like it was actual porn involved here. What you discussed was blackmail and fucking control attempts by rapists, not porn, you sensationalizing hack.

You specifically worded that to make people think you were bitching about porn in which rape is a theme, which has been a theme since humans fucking wrote about sex, you zero-talent harpy. I was all prepped to make a joke about Monmusu Quest, too, and you fucking ruined it.

Brianna Wu doesn't understand Reddit. At all. Nor does she understand the blackout.

For the uninitiated, the blackout started because Victoria, the mod of /r/IAMA, allowed a question critical of Jesse Jackson to go up during an AMA. Victoria was a beloved admin by the userbase with a known history of actually getting shit done and doing proper community relations, but she was, according to the userbase, essentially shit-canned with no redress because she had become "problematic."

The Mods are pissed. They do their shit on a volunteer basis, and Reddit just fired one of the few Admins who was worth a damn. Reddit isn't listening to its userbase, and is, in fact, caving to the demands of extremists. The fact that Reddit was able to mass-purge Reddits it didn't like, often without even knowing what was going on in them, was bad enough, but this incident was the straw that broke the Redditor's back. Now the Mods are doing the one fucking thing they can to force change - use the fact that 90% of the content on Reddit is user-generated to lock down the site. As it stands, over 20% of the subreddits - including many of the biggest - are locked down.

This is a full-fledged revolt, and no amount of telling everyone to calm down and go back to the way things were is going to stop it now. When you run a company that heavily relies on a volunteer base (and Reddit does), you need to fucking listen to those volunteers and moreover, work with them. So Reddit's mods basically just have to stop doing their job, lock things down, and Reddit pays the price.

Irony is, Wu and hers are directly to fucking blame for this horse-shit, since a site prevaricated on user freedom has become synonymous with fucking safe space hugboxing and open staff corruption, leading to this incident in the first place. As we speak, Pao and friends are trying to claim that the blacking-out subreddit owners are "a vocal minority," whilst ignoring that the revolt has real consequences and the petition to have Pao permanently removed from her position is at over 63,000 signatures and counting.

July 10 is coming up as "No Reddit Day." We'll see what happens there.

3. But then I'll still complain abou it

You can't stop it, Wu. Pao and friends destroyed Reddit trying to "control the narrative." Now the users are in open revolt and you have two choices: Concede to their demands and actually realize you are not the fucking gods of the website whom the people working for you (who are not paid) are your mere subject, or shit your pants and do nothing as Voat continues to gobble up your fucking userbase, bit by painful bit.

That's what worries you, isn't it? You weren't able to stop 8chan, and despite everything, you haven't been able to stop Voat, either. The second that gets up to speed, you're fucked, because what happened to Digg can happen to Reddit, and you fucking know it.

4. Great to see you complain about Animu now, Wu

5. TRUE AND HONEST DIRECT SPEECH ONLY

....Says the woman who can't operate outside a fucking hugbox.

The way I heard it, it was because the higher-ups wanted to take AMA's into a different, more commercial direction, and Victoria wasn't fond of the idea.

Pao (and Wu) can downplay it all she wants but about 1400 subreddits are affected by this blackout, which have about a million readers or so. I'm guessing the userbase will mass-immigrate to Voat soon or something.

I like how rape robot uses the door.

Im a little confused on the narrative here.
Is rapebot breaking in ? If so why are his victims pre chained ?
If this is rapebots sex dungeon then why the table and chairs ? Its not like geth rape juggernaut could take a seat.

What does that even mean? What does "free speech" has to do with honesty and directness?

Changing the meaning of words to try and circumvent an opposing argument is a constant theme with these fucktards. I guess it was only a matter of time before they tried to do it with the definition of free speech.

I'm guessing the userbase will mass-immigrate to Voat soon or something.

The more likely scenario is that users without any skin in the game (which is a majority of them) will stop caring in a few days. If the subreddits they want to use are still blacked out they'll just move onto open subreddits and forget about the drama.

I don't know, Ellen has certainly demonstrated that she doesn't seem to get Reddit. At all.

This fired Victoria event will probably be the first of many.

You know this is something that's been bothering me for a while. Brianna Wu constantly tweets about how hot the new race's girls are in FFXIV or how hot some fighting game girl is, and, putting aside the hypocrisy of that with her whining about sexism, it's exactly how your average nerdy guy would talk about those female characters. To date I've never actually seen her talk about how hot a male character in anything is.

Frank Wu is just flat out married to a straight dude. John is clearly just a straight dude. What a horrible existance to be Frank.

Unless you're a mod or a devout /r/IAmA user the latest incident doesn't affect you in an obvious way and is easy to get bored with the longer the drama over it drags on. As it was pointed out earlier, the content on reddit is user-generated. That applies to the mods just as much as it applies to the administration, and the mods are going to find out they have neither the power nor the influence they think they have the hard way if they continue their blackouts after the average user has stopped caring.

If you haven't noticed, /r/IAmA is already back up. How long will it be before the rest of the subreddits follow suit?

Wouldn't be shocked at all if her deal was more autogynephilia than being transgender, judging by how much she fetishes certain types of female form (the type she has spent a lot of money and effort to replicate almost to a creepy extent) and her FictionMania history.

The only thing that really surprises me is her being in a straight relationship rather than a lesbian one.

You see, there's this thing called money...

EDIT: To actually add to the conversation, I've never seen any hints that Brianna is actually attracted to Frank in any meaningful way, or men in general.

We don't have anything to suggest that she's attracted to Frank but we do have some evidence that she's attracted to men. In college and on transgendered forums, she used to brag about hooking up with guys and not telling them about her pre-op transgendered status. Hell, the name "Brianna" was from her having a crush on a fellow classmate named Brian if we are to believe the accounts on the Ole Miss forum. However, her fetish for bosomy women in skimpy outfits is super weird and not really that easy to explain other than that's what she thinks is the ideal woman.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, Brianna used to be pretty overweight when she was a guy. She might have been having gender identity issues at that time too and the fixation on bikini models could have come from her seeing that as her body goal.

I don't think Wu is obsessed with women in skimpy outfits so much as it's an obsession with the stereotypical "sexy woman" look with the hourglass body shape and all the curves that come with a woman like that. The skimpy clothing is simply to show as much of the body itself uncovered and thus not hiding anything (like say, a pickle) that detracts from this idealized concept of a physical woman.

In fact, given these weird obsessions with impossibly perfect female forms and shit from the 60's when it comes to women...I have to wonder if a large part of Wu's behavior and perceived values were influenced by Jane Fonda. According to Wikipedia, the first of her famous exercise videos was released in 1982, over the next few years becoming the most commonplace exercise home video and in the following years would have 22 additional videos released in the series. I can't confirm that Fonda actually had her two lower ribs removed for some related reason, as I've heard rumors of, but as a physically fit exercise icon who was prominent in the 60's with millions of copies of exercise videos hitting shelves around the same time Flynt was growing up...there likley is some correlation there.

There's also a correlation in the fashion:

It's very clear that her entire concept of character design is rooted in some strange deep-seeded unitard/80s/neoprene fashion fetish.

It's not Brianna's original art, so I wouldn't try reading too much into it. It's actually just a redraw of one of Frank's favorite pieces of pulp sci-fi art. Because apparently it's not enough for her to emasculate him, she also has to flagrantly disrespect everything he loves.
