Brianna doesn't even go out, why would you build a mini-atx rig if you aren't going to LAN parties and thus need something compact or are so strapped for space because you are literally living in a closet. :story:

Edit: Oh god I just checked the link and it's micro-atx, not mini-atx. That's even more hilarious.

I think Wu's gonna be a little surprised when he see's the case.

Here's the damage, have at thee, gentle Kiwis.

Asks for case expandability, orders a micro-atx case. In fact thats a fucking terrible setup considering the price.

Wu has ordered a micro atx case and motherboard. So it means no expandability, no chance for dual graphics, no overhead for pci expansion, no space for airflow. Just no expandability.

Next: why splash out on a 512gb ssd for that price?! Get a 128gb and a 1tb hard drive. SSD for the operating system and the 1tb for the rest.

Next: why get a 750w sub-standard PSU? With the setup wu has, you can get a cheap corsair PSU around 500w thay will last longer and is quiter than that psu.

Seems like Wu has thrown the most money into the graphics card. But with that setup, why not get an AMD R9 270 graphics card instead? Its cheaper and should still perform at the same level.

Long story short, Wu has no fucking idea how to choose components to build a decent pc.

You've thought way more then John has about this. He did provide some reasoning though:

OCULUS APPS ONLY INSTALL TO C:, SHITLORD.

I didn't even realize this. Wu mentioned a couple of times the only reason he's not getting a GTX 1070 is that its out of stock 'everywhere reputable' so he's gonna buy one in a few months and plans to run both :story:.

Edit : I guess all this PC build is doing is telling us what we already know : no matter how little you think Wu knows about technology, you're overestimating him.

Oh to be a fly on the wall when that happens. :lol:

Personally I'm giving him until he tries to put in the 1070 as well before he folds and buys a properly sized case with mobo to match.

I'm not overeestimaring, just taking what Wu says at face value and calling it bullshit.

Wu's excuse of "i r software developer" is no excuse. I am a software developer (queue powerlevelling) and i know how to build a pc.

Oculus apps will only install to C: when you dont choose the "custom installation option" or just hit next on an installer without reading it. Its also the way you get adware too, so look out for Wu asking for help on that.

Also expanding on the "expandability". Wu has ordered 4 ram sticks at 4gb each. Not sure on the motherboards ram limit, but thats all the slots used up. Why not get 2x8gb ram sticks and leave the rest free for expandability?

Not just any microATX but a minitower case. According to the specs here the case accommodates "a dual expansion slot VGA up to 350mm in length." According to the amazon page for her GPU, her video card is 15.9 inches in length, or around 400mm.

Moral of the story kiwis: don't buy a small case with mini or micro ANYTHING in the name if you buy the biggest video card on the market.

I'm definitely looking forward to that particular clusterfuck when wu tries to stick it in.
And the other clusterfuck when she tries to install the GPU.

LinusTechTips once crammed a Xeon and a Gtx Titan into a Silverstone mini itx once. Then again, they were just fucking around, not trying to build a work pc unlike Wu.

Yeah I was curious about the c: thing myself and was writing another post when I saw yours. Just fyi that link Wu provided wasn't his actual order, just a template he used, and he did order 2 8gb sticks so he at least did one tiny part of it right.

Edit : One last tweet before I go to bed. Behold the knowledge of "one of the leading women in tech"

After reviewing the mobo, it seems that it supports 2-way sli. But why the hell would you 2 way sli in a case that small when the graphics card gets that hot?

And i'm done. Literally the most retarded question ever.

Bios is "basic input/output set". So no Wu, you don't need to "install" anything, the BIOS chip will have enough functionality to make the pc boot and read the hardware.

Secondly, you dont "install" bios, you flash the rom chip with firmware. Its the same method with any smartphone, tablet or a mac.

Thirdly, you can put in the components however you want as long as, at boot time, you have the essential components to run the device. Its the same as any other device (again).

This is basic level tech, literally the first things you learn when you go into the tech industry.

In the jungle of randomly firing synapses that is Flynt/Wu's tranny brain, what is the definition of obviate? It certainly makes zero sense in that tweet.

<start pedantry>

While not entirely an incorrect use of the term, it's a clumsy term to use. A more appropriate way to end that tweet would be "This should fix that", since obviate means the removal of a need for something, in this case, the empty space, which makes using the word obviate slightly clumsy because Wu is saying he wanted to fill the empty space.

<end pedantry>
