I'm pretty sure that's it. Maybe after reading this thread and realizing she needed to play the game after Steamification she rammed in 13.9 hours of testing.

Or maybe she's played 13.9 hours of it through Steam channels over the course of development, and it all shows up now because the game now exists in the DB.

People here oversell the powers of internet sleuths. There are things that you need access to non-internet databases, or non-computerized data sources, to verify.

And it was hard to prove adoption even before the Internet. Adoption groups fought for the right to make adoption be on equal legal and social footing with birth, and there really isn't any countermanding lobby, so they got it.

It's fine to assume it's a lie because Flynt says it, but this one has at least been a consistent lie. Flynt usually tells his lies a different way every time.

The other reason we haven't pursued it is out of respect for Flynt's family.

Nobody deserves Brianna Wu as a relative and I think I speak for everyone when I say knowing just one more lie of Brianna's isn't worth dragging an entire family who doubtlessly has been through more than enough that we even know about because of miss Wu.

If it is a lie, it's consistent only because there's only so many ways to say you're adopted and he's never gone into much detail regarding the circumstances. His other lies are inconsistent because he'll tell them in the way he thinks will make him look better and more impressive at that given moment.

This and I assume it used to be some sort of hare brained scheme to hide her male past.
Basically, by claiming she's adopted it suddenly doesn't matter when someone finds out about a certain "John Flynt", since that's totally not the same person as "Brianna Flynt" . . . something like that, anyway.

Then again, whether or not Flunky Flynt was adopted or not is rather unimportant. If it was clear, disproven lie, it would just be one more nail in her coffin, but if it was true, it wouldn't really improve or change anything.

So yeah, I do think it's a load of shit, but I don't really care one way or another.

In addition, Brianna has been inconsistent in regards to how much her parents cared about her growing up. In some tellings, they gave her every opportunity in the world and in others they were horrible monsters who wanted to crush her dreams.

In any case, while I lean towards her being a biological child, it doesn't matter. We know that her parents gave her $200,000 to start a business, put her through at least three different unsuccessful college tenures, paid for a fancy apartment in DC, put her through rehab (and got her another nice place at the time), and seemingly catered to her every desire growing up. Brianna Wu still comes out of her stories looking like an ungrateful shit and claiming that she was adopted is the only way she can get anything resembling sympathy mostly due to people's lack of faith in the US adoption system.

That's what I think too. Adoption is a convenient, difficult to prove thing that puts distance between Brianna and her past as John Walker Flynt.

Brianna Wu is Connor Bible

In his mind at least. Ultimately, the adoption bit is irrelevant to his real name before being Brianna Wu being confirmed as John Flynt because he confirmed his maiden name was Flynt via a tweet, and even has several signatures and other documentary evidence confirming he's Brianna Wu nee Flynt. The college admissions and voter registries further establish the ties between the two to the point the chance it's all a mistake on our parts is extremely small at best, and we've gotten confirmation based on roundabout slips of the tongue via Wu and asspatting idiots like Chu not knowing when to shut up only hardening our confirmation.

Being adopted or not does not negate the validity of what we have discovered at all, it merely gives Wu an excuse to try muddying the waters, which is irrelevant in the large scheme of things anyway.

I'm guessing John hates FFVII because he sees too much of himself in Mukki.

For something he dislikes so much, he sure has a lot of figures from it...

It's been said before, but this photo in particular is a PERFECT example of just how filthy the Wu household is. That is years upon years of dust built up, without and real attempt to ever clean any of it.

I'll never understand people's attacks on movies/games/whatever from over ten years ago. Like retroactively throwing a fit about things is going to further your cause.
If you attack a recently developed game, the devs may defend themselves, and that is bad because these people are retarded and incapable of arguing. However, if you attack a game from a few decades ago, nobody will bother to defend it, so you can claim you won.

fix'd

The dude with a bratz fetish likes Pone?

Holy Shit

"likes" is subjective. More like "I bought this for the woman points"

edit: also it's clean and ontop of the mess, so I have a feeling it was a rush purchase for the picture so she could seem more "into girl stuff, tee hee!"

Teenage John Flynt must have been a major weeaboo. The obsession with Final Fantasy and Sailor Moon, the fact that he took a Japanese class in college, it all adds up.

He loves to paint this picture of rebellious John who drank and forged ID cards but, lets face it, he spent all day in his room eating cheetos and watching Gundam on VHS.

Not a weeaboo; hipster. Wu has always been, and always will be. There's a difference.

Whereas a weeaboo may love Japanophile nonsense and animu, the hipster selects it based on the prospect that her choice will be defining everyone else's taste in five years. She sees herself as a trendsetter, whereas the average Weeb just sees something she likes and doesn't give a fuck what people think over it.

You can see this in every aspect of Wu's life - from her taste in consoles and video games to her choices in said games, from her pushing of bleeding edge tech to her love of flash-in-the-pan that everyone else knows is a wet fart in grandpa's trousers.

"Games boss" John Flynt believes in his product so much that he doesn't even need to talk about it!

I can't help but feel that tweets like this are attempts to stir up controversy and/or posture himself as "having unique contrarian opinions" more so than actually trying to defend games such as FF8. He did this kind of thing with FF13 not too long ago, another generally disliked entry in the FF series.

If it weren't for the crowd he tries to roll with considering any praise of Duke Nukem Forever to be haram because sexism, I'd be awaiting the "Duke Nukem Forever wasn't a bad game" tweets.
