Bri, charge $6 for your crap game. No one in their right mind will buy it at $9 when the review scores are down in the 30's tops.

Could it be that in these 2 years Flynt/Wu hasn't decided the price yet? And is only asking this because it's necessary when submitting the game to Steam?

No way, right?

I hope this game is extremely successful. Successful as a bad joke game like Bad Rats. If the game sells poorly nothing will really change, people won't know about the game like they already don't know about it. If it gets horribly shredded by reviews Wu will just blame Gamergate harassment and get more pity points. If the game becomes infamous and spread around Wu won't be able to escape the fact they're a joke. Wu's ego would be destroyed if they got famous for making a game everyone laughs at. Even if it makes money because people gift it around it wouldn't matter. This was never about the money for Wu, its all for their ego.

Oh my. There's a bit in Wu's latest Disruption podcast where it's so clear she's faking emotion that I just had to clip it.

I wonder if Wu is actually a sociopath. She just can't seem to communicate emotion in any sort of realistic way. Also, there's all the lying.

Money is still a part of it but not in the way that it is for traditional developers. Wu wants the game to make money, but as a property she can market to larger companies (somehow) or so that it makes enough for her to be able to pay others to create stuff under the prestigious Giant Spacekat name. Kind of like how the SOCCON novel was going to spiral into a TV series, commercial deals, movies, etc.

Basically, she sees her characters in the same way Chris sees Sonichu - it's a genius, multimillion dollar franchise in the making that can cross multiple platforms and, once it succeeds, she won't have to work another day in her life.

John wouldn't see it that way, to him any success is good success. While you are right it was never about money, John-boy honestly believes that any press is good press and if there's no press make shit up.

So Wu didn't do any research or some kind of cost calculation beforehand, but asks people on twitter what they would pay for a game, she is (allegedly) about to upload to steam any minute now. I think even a child with a lemonade stand has better entrepreneurial instincts than Wu...

Well if Rev 60 takes 4 hours to complete I would fine with being paid about 200 dollar to complete it.

This is part of the stuff that I knew was going to happen when "submitting to Steam" and she didn't think about until the last minute. There is at least one more I'm waiting for.

Sounds like she almost enjoys oppression, really. It gives her a platform of legitimacy.

To be honest I would actually like to see more games developed by Wu in the wake of the "success" of Rev 60 if only to see this crazy charade scam go on.

While I do like this notion, I have to say, the less people are exposed to this shit, the better.

It'll be shat on either way, but having it sink into obscurity with a pitiful number of actually sold games would be preferable.
While it might be funny to have people buy this game as a joke, it doesn't translate as well into a statement of "Fuck you, your game is irrelevant!" as almost no sales would have.

It's pretty straight forward why Bribri wants to make this game, it's her attempt to get cheap e-fame and attention, but from a different PoV, I simply can't fathom what this game is supposed to achieve on Steam.
It was a lackluster game when it was just an iOS app, what chance is it supposed to have on PC?
On PC, it has to compete with games that actually have ... well ... gameplay. How much paint chips does one have to consume during his childhood to think there is anything genuinely worthwhile in this "game"?
Even some of the FMV games of aeons past had railshooter sequences, puzzles or anything.

So yeah, I hope it sells a tiny amount of copies to Bribri's goons (who will never install it anyway) and some people that will play it, write scathing reviews and refund it (And of course: Smutley, providing us with a new Let's Play) and after that just pop into the background noise of non-sellers on Steam.

This game is 200K to 300K in the hole. It's not gonna make that up on Steam sales.

There is no money to make games. Wu took over a year to put out an "essentially done" game. She won't be capable of starting from scratch with no money.

Way more than that now. Don't forget she took almost as long fucking with the "special edition" as it took to develop the game originally. While most of the contractors bailed out more than a year ago, Amanda still needs paying, plus apparently she got more voice work recorded. While I guess the patreonbux has somewhat offset the expenses for the last year+, I doubt it was anywhere close to paying all the bills even at its peak (not counting that crazy guy who gave her 10K for some reason.)

I would guess she needs to make at least half a million from the PC version to get in to the black, and that just isn't going to happen.

It won't happen, I'm sorry to say. Wu has burned almost every single bridge she has built in the games industry at this point.
Let the man dream, Badges. Let the man dream...:heart-full:

I don't know what is a more fitting end for Rev60, selling 10 copies and vanishing into the abyss or becoming the bad joke that someone mentioned earlier, every Lets Player on youtube ripping it a new asshole.

Somehow I still think most LPers care about their standing among the SJ crowd enough to avoid the game like the plague rather than bash it, but who knows. It would be pretty amazing to see everyone tearing the game to shreds to read the inevitable chimpout tweets.

I don't know if we'd get anything funny out of a total flop, just denial about how poorly it sold or twisted stats ("best selling game in the past 4 hours!" or something).

I'm sure a few do, but they'll fear the unsubscribe button and down vote more.

Goddamnit Duane, stop kissing his ass.

Who the fuck buys a game they don't intend to play just to support some stranger on the internet?
