I kind of assume the falling out with his parents was that John dropped out of college twice, wasted their money on a house in DC, had his failed rehab paid for completely, and refused to pay back the $200k they loaned him for a failed business venture.

But yeah totally his evil republican parents are what caused the falling out and it's in no way because of Perfect John.

That's actually what makes me think that John going tranny was the final straw. (That and the general timeline, if I'm remembering it right.) John's parents sound like enablers willing to throw good money after bad when it comes to their fuck up kid, and that type usually doesn't wise up no matter how much they've blown or how obvious it is they're not getting paid back so long as they can pretend everything's fine. But it's impossible to keep up appearances when your son starts flirting the skirt.

It could also be that being cut off is what pushed John over the edge to become Brianna. I'm just musing aloud because everything I've seen has John absolutely adoring his parents while Brianna completely despises them.

Yip. It's a transformation pose. Wu is so obsessed with Sailor Moon, it hurts. The cattiness between Holiday and company being based on Usagi/Moon and Rei/Mars' relationship wouldn't surprise me at all. Wu just needs to include Lolita relationships, sexual assault and incest to further the comparisons. (Amongst other things)

And there are trans characters in SM.

Mind you we're talking about writing here. Granted, LR had some issues with Ulysses but ED-E and his creator were interesting and Honest Hearts had some God-tier writing. Joshua Graham and the Survivalist are some of the most well-written characters in any vidya gaem I've ever played.

If Rev 60 came even slightly close to that level of writing, it might've been somewhat interesting.

It's been a while, but isn't it from the first act? In Smutley's play-through, a bomb goes off that critically injures Unknown, and Minuet is just at the edge of the blast, and gets knocked away. That's when she makes that pose.

I was really hoping Wu would go on more about XCom 2. It's definitely one that would cause her no end of problems. Hell, that 0.9 hours was probably her just restarting the first mission over and over until the first random squad was all female.

Then of course it wouldn't be long before she just HAD to point out the problematic aspects of the game. Like how there are only two voiced female characters in the story cutscenes, and one of them is only there because she is the daughter of a dirty male from the first game (but she's an engineer, so she must have been based on Wu) while the other is a reporter working for the bad guys (who must also have been based on Wu because of her background in crime journalism).

The male NPCs are very mansplainy, the way they have to describe everything that happens in the game. It's also very misogynistic how they have absolutely no problem sending her all-female (yay) squad into combat, no doubt hoping they are killed....

What does Frank actually get out of his relationship? If he just wanted to get fucked by a tranny, you can find hundreds of them on craigslist for free. Does he get off on being treated as a mobile ATM? Is he suffering from utterly twisted male guilt and is punishing himself by living with Bri-Bri? Is he just as psychotic as she is? I mean, from photos of the guy, he's not really ugly or anything, and he's rich, so it's not as though he can't do better.

My theory is Frank Wu is a textbook example of the beta male, hipster, cuck stereotype. He so desperately wants to believe the Tumblr/sjw narrative that he's blind to any negative traits even if they're right in front of him.
