Because non-apple is a cardinal sin in the snarling church of Wu.
Most hipsters/SJWs use Apple products as a status symbol. They simply need to show off how much money they spent.

It's the same with Wu's new PC. Spent a ton of money for an inferior product (mostly because for close to that money it still could have gotten a nice full tower with lots of air flow, an i7 processor that would be good for, you know, developing shit, and more RAM).

Wu Spent almost as much as I did for my new rig, and I have a 6 core i7, 64 GB DDR4 RAM, and 11TB of storage (2 5TB drives and a 1TB SSD). The only thing Wu has is a 1080, and I built mine months before the 1080s came out, but I have a 980Ti. But, mine is also used for more than just OMFGVRISSOAWZOMEGUIZE. Plus, since I know that thermal paste is still used, mine won't catch fire randomly.

Just like buying Macs, Wu spent more money on less power (and this is coming from someone who used Macs for a decade, but got tired of how overly expensive they were compared to equally or more powerful PCs-- and the lack of program support).

Plus, I know which damn power connectors to hook up to my video card.

GODZILLA OF TECH!

Who would actually want to though? Her asspatters are likely too stupid to do anything, and those who can will quickly learn how disposable they are to her.
She looks OK at a glance. Or she did till the wiki came up. I think people saw her on Wikipedia and c called it good

What's amusing is that he also bought a 980 because the 1080 wasn't available at the time. Then he immediately ditched the 980 for a 1080 because reasons

Reasons being trying to look cool/have gaming cred/MUSTBETOPOFTHELINEOMFGBBQWTF (but only for graphics cards, the rest of my system can be less!)

The 980 is still going to be a great card for a good few years to come. It's above min specs for the VR headsets, as well. Just because the 10XX series has come out, doesn't mean suddenly every game is going to drop the 9XX series cards immediately. For the foreseeable future, 970s will still end up being recommended specs for games coming out-- very few games have a 980 as recommended right now, 970+ is at that point. It's probably going to be around 3 years before the 1070 becomes the recommended with the 960 or 970 becoming minimum.

However, I will say that anyone building a new rig would be dumb to buy a 9XX series card for the same or near the same price as a 10XX series card, considering the 10XX series will be better in terms of performance and power efficiency. I haven't looked to see if the 9XX series cards have dropped in price, personally (since I don't need to be looking to buy one); but if they're still hovering around the same prices they were, then if a 10XX card is available, it would be dumb to pay around the same price for a less powerful and more energy inefficient card when building a system right now.

Of course, Wu buying both is the epitome of stupid.

The 980 will probably sit in it's box somewhere gathering dust until it's obsolete.

#Dogexit = Another dog dies from neglect in the Wu Household, strangely Wu claims that GamerGate is responsible.
#Revexit = Wu finally admits that Rev 60 was, is and never will be 'released soon'.
#Rigxit = Because of not using enough heat paste and cigarette smoke clogging the fans, Wu's new PC dies on her.
#Maxit = It is finally revealed that of the 2000$ on Wu's patreon only 500$ are real donations.
#Frexit = Frank finally sees the light and divorces Brianna.

I'm voting Frank remains

"Economist" John Flynt discovers that he's a shit technologist and so has moved on to the next level of sperging:

View attachment 107851

- Lecture everyone in your Twattersphere about economics and fiscal stability
- Piss away millions upon millions of dollars in capital financing while running several businesses into the ground
- Spend thousands more on underperforming "brand" hardware and regurgitated human puke

The density is so thick that light cannot escape from its surface.
