I've gone on Youtube without being signed in a few times and gotten a multiple new videos essentially gloating with titles like "Charlie Kirk's legacy is AI memes haha we WON!" recommended to me.
You have to wonder if these people realize that not everyone on the planet is an irony-poisoned, chronically-online Zoomer aged 18-30 whose entire perception of the world is filtered through TikTok and Instagram Reels. I sincerely doubt anyone over the age of 35 (the majority of humanity) has had any enough exposure to those memes to shape their perception of Charlie into a joke, regardless of how ubiquitous those memes are seemingly are in online shitholes.
I think it comes from a failure to understand the internet isn't real life. Even if it were, the sentiment encouraged is going to hurt the grave-dancers in the long-run if anything. The nihilistic absurdism propagated by those memes isn't going to shift to sincerity once one of their own sacred cows gets whacked. Is another George Floyd even possible anymore? How quickly have all their propped-up martyrs been forgotten since the assassination? If one man's early, unjust murder is an unserious joke, why should one arbitrarily care about another's death, like Renee Good or Alex Pretti?
Messaging becomes unfocused and contradictory when the line goes from "wanton murder is bad" to "wanton murder is bad, except when x, y, z, but ALWAYS bad when a,b,c. because something something systemic power"
EDIT: These people are still running on 2022 Biden-era gay, green and niggerish socialism, just gussied up with anti-AI hysteria and sprinkled in with hackneyed Israel jokes taken from RW people anyways.
