Maslow's hierarchy of needs has nothing to do with human rights. Even if it did, it's just a (recent) psychological theory and is a flimsy premise on which to build a philosophy of human rights.

Because they believe no one person can own a tangible asset that there is a finite amount of. You'll notice many breadtubers and other leftists will shift between leftist "fuck the government" and utilitarian "the greater good". There is a concept of "scientific socialism" where their ideal society is run by data and "experts". Much of the mentality seems to be fueled by envy and/or ego.
They also cannot differentiate between positive and negative liberties and breadtubers have told their audiences that those terms are right wing, poisoning the well. Guaranteed housing is a positive liberty as is government controlled healthcare. The problem with these "liberties" is that they are contingent on the government providing them which can lead to them being used as a method of controlling the population and increased economic stress to pay for these services.
Reactionary is just a manufactured term to label the enemy without useful idiots making the connection. "Societal progress"

Its funny, I own my place but I would rather rent than deal with all the PITA problems of owning if rent was lower, but its not, not because of the evil landlords but because of political bullshit like zoning laws, NIMBY which most rich lefties are huge fans of, construction red tape, fucking neighbor associations and a myriad of other unnecessary bullshit that makes housing expensive. Without those rent would be a fraction of what it is today, there might even be oversupply issues.
To think taking homes from landlords its gonna solve anything its as retarded as thinking taking the land from the kulaks was gonna solve the soviet food problems, guess what? it caused the biggest famine in russian history.

There is a difference between Natural Rights (rights bestowed by God) and United Nations Declarations. The UN also says Food and Water are human rights but you aren’t entitled to your neighbours sweat from their brow. Your neighbour may still give you some of their provisions because in a properly functioning society they know you would do the same if their own family had a bad harvest.
Also African villages that have to walk miles to get water everyday (sending their women, what are the men doing as the women make the dangerous trek) have an easy solution. Moving closer to their water source / telling the men to spend their days digging wells.

I'm asking for a philosophical basis for why housing would be a fundamental human right. Is it something that descends from a transcendent authority, like God? Does it descend from an idealized "state of nature" in which we can imagine what primitive humans had liberties to do and not do before any society was formed? Is it something that the nation has legislated as a fundamental right through its representatives in government?
Saying "look it's in [X] thing!!!!!!" is a bad argument, and won't convince the vast majority of Americans (unless it's the Bible, and even then it's not likely).
Literally breadtube would have a better argument for their socialist ideals as fundamental human rights if they pointed to Acts 2:44-47 as the basis. At least that has the patina of transcendent authority.
