Granted, in fairness, he's not entirely wrong with audiences that follow lolcows being exceptional, but a healthy does of self-awareness goes a long way in stopping people from going full sperg mode.

Euromaidan and the subsequent Revolution of Dignity were supported by various Western actors, but it is only natural that Western actors would support a pro-Western uprising. There were genuine nationalists on Maidan Nezalezhnosti at that time, even though they never particularly liked the EU, the US, or any of the international organisations. This is because nationalists in every country bordering or even near Russia view Russia as a more immediate threat than anything else. And, as you surely can see, for a good reason. Euromaidan was primarily about opposing the pro-Russian course the Ukrainian administration was on, and being anti-Russian is something that transcends other political differentiations — just as being pro-Russian does.

They were anti-Russia, but they didn't support Euromaidan or its leaders and their goal of joining the EU. Least of all did they want those leaders' handlers from the State Department to be involved in government. The problem with accusations of Ukraine being run by Neonazis is that they were emphatically against both the old puppet government and the new puppet government, and they initially tried to get their own genuine nationalist politicians elected.

This appears to be a disagreement over what Euromaidan was and what it was about. As I said, I consider Euromaidan to be primarily about opposing and reversing the pro-Russian course. It consisted of several factions and even more groups, ranging from far-left to far-right, and nothing united or could unite them beyond being anti-Russian. Similarly, I do not see parliamentary opposition leaders as leaders of Euromaidan, just as leaders of any other participating faction cannot be so crowned.

On the second point, I obviously agree that Ukraine is not being run by neo-Nazis, although I do not even find it necessary to look at what Ukrainian rightists claim to want of Ukrainian government to notice that they are not in it. They fail to get elected, fail to get appointed, and the best they ever got was a chocolatier billionaire pretending to be the biggest nationalist since Bandera.
