So...
Tyson cashed out. Apparently the purse was 20m whether you win or lose. He didn't even try. The women's fight before the main event was more exciting than the Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight. Pathetic.
I didn't see the fight, but from what I read, it sounds like Mike did try in the 1st, and that's all he had left in him, 1 ok round. His knees and back are shot, and he's almost fucking 60, lol. He can gas up to look like a semblance of his old self, but you can't deny Father Time. His reflexes and stamina (for boxing) would always have been gone at his age no matter what. Looking good hitting the heavy bag and mitts is a far cry from actually doing it in the ring.

I think I can officially be considered an oldfag at the ripe old age of 33 because it was tough watching this fight and it was like laying another part of my childhood to rest. Last Tyson fight I actually remember watching was Tyson vs Holyfield II so I tuned in cause my antiquated brain thought that even at an older age he'd still have something - it's Iron Mike, man. He was the bee's knees back in my day. Father Time dominated tonight, and it was sad to watch. I guess this is what it feels like when 72 year old black women go to an Earth, Wind, & Fire open-air concert even though like all of the original members are dead and they passed their prime like 43 years ago.

Sounds like the fight was pretty fake and gay.

I'm in my early 50s so I'm a legit "oldfag". When I came in for my shift tonight, my manager had one of the prelims on his laptop. He's about the same age as you, and he remembers Tyson from the 90's, which was a shadow of the 80's Tyson, lol. I told him not to expect much... if Tyson can't get him in the 1st, which he'd likely struggle to do, at best, it'd go to the scorecards, or Mike gets KOed. I'm glad Mike didn't take any serious punishment in there, but a guy pushing 60 has no business trying to compete in a real boxing match, ATG or not. Father Time is undefeated for a reason.

The Ring Magazine (now owned by Turki Alalashikh) put their awards out a while back, if you don't mind a spot of smugposting -

It was a war. The first third of the fight was dominated by Kholmatov, the second third was 50/50, and the championship rounds were dominated by Ford, capped off by a knockout in the 12th round with 7 seconds to go. Ford was behind on all the cards, and if Kholmatov could have lasted through the entire fight, he would have won. Truly unbelievable, and this is my fight of the year as of now. Check out the highlights here.

Fighter of the Year: Oleksandr Usyk

Female Fighter of the Year: Gabriela Fundora

Fight of the Year: Ray Ford KO 12 Otabek Kholmatov <-------- SHEEEEEIIITTTTTT CALLED IT

Event of the Year: Oleksandr Usyk vs Tyson Fury I

Trainer of the Year: Robert Garcia

Prospect of the Year: Moses Itauma

Round of the Year: Oleksandr Usyk vs Tyson Fury (Round 9)

Upset of the Year: Bruno Surace KO 6 Jaime Munguia

Comeback of the Year: Billy Dib

Knockout of the Year: Daniel Dubois KO 5 Anthony Joshua

Lifetime Achievement: Don King

So, to let you bums in on a secret, I was at the Ford-Kholmatov fight. That was the most electrifying event I have ever been to. The entire fight was back and forth, the audience was in it the entire fight, and the ending is going to be hard to top, probably for the rest of my life. What a fight!

What yall mothafuccas thinkg about TKO and White trying to carve a space in boxing?

Personally, I dont give a fuck about fighter pay and think most boxers are overpaid (what they generate vs what they are paid).

Boxing has always needed a czar or a commissioner, if Turk Alibinsk and White wanna fill that role, lets do it.

I don't see how it's going to go anywhere, personally. The big names are already signed to promoters, several of whom personally hate Dana, so unlikely to work with them. Maybe they can splash some cash to get some up and comers but my guess is they're too jewey for that. Plus it would potentially risk their core MMA business if they suddenly start paying boxers way more as even the most CTE riddled UFC retard is going to start asking for more money if they see them paying elsewhere.

The TKO ceiling is going to be regional guys fighting for UFC level pay. They will never snag the next Canelo, Tank, etc. Because all of those types of fighters are going to get snapped up the real veteran boxing promotions like Matchroom and Queensberry.

''Hey Canelo, wanna fight for $500,000 and have to wear some shitty Venom shorts?''
''Get the fuck outta here!''

Youre right but Turk aL Menishink is a different breed, they just ran that retarded triple header and didnt care about selling tickets.

Ryan and Haney both looked like shit too.

Naoya Inoue is the most exciting boxer in the world right now, bar none.

If he gets through Akhmadaliev and Nakatani, he's undisputed pound for pound number one.

I am worried that his power ceiling is junior featherweight, though.

Georgia O'Keeffe died at 25. Apparently, her doctors pretty much would refuse to look into the possibility of her having it, even though she was the one telling them to do the tests because she thought she was suffering from it. You think you hate overpaid faggot doctors enough, and then shit like this happens.
I'm sure that the doctors in the UK are too busy looking after inbred Paki genetic rejects. That's a god damn shame.

I'm considering boxing (to the point that I bought the minimal equipment needed and visited a gym).

I have never been athletic (what I do is swimming by I never really disciplined myself to proper form, so I suck at it, and mountain biking, road bicycling and kayaking, but none of those are like the extreme kind), and I've also never had a fight. I'm the kind of person who flinched easily as a kid.

But I get to thinking one day, I bet that getting punched is one of those things that sounds scary until it actually happens, and then you're just over it. Like flying on a plane, which I had to do recently.

I molded my mouth guard today. It sucks getting used to it, but I've gotten a lot better over the day. Had to mold it twice. Hand wraps were easy to put on. The jump rope is a nightmare. I couldn't really try it in earnest because my legs were shredded from doing something else a day ago, but I know it's going to be hard. Considering holding off on going until I can at least keep a slow rhythm.

The gym is $100 a month, which sucks, but the most attractive alternative is an hour drive away and this one is literally a short walk from my apartment.

When I watched them I felt like my experience fencing (as a beginner, didn't stick around long) and square dancing helped. I never had much "physical intelligence," but square dancing has improved that dramatically. What mostly stood out was anatomy (like how people rotate into moves) and economy of motion. I think I understand the idea of it.

Edit: Square dancing with fluidity, understanding how other people move. It's almost all old geezers that square dance, I'm really out of place (and it does make me feel uncomfortable) there. Well, you learn how to lead people with things like spinning women. When these people are half-demented you learn to apply more pressure and make very expressive motions as clear signals to steer them towards doing the right thing. You know whether that geezer is going to be able to do a twirl in a swing, only swing, or not swing at all based on how old and doddering they are. Boxing is like this shit in reverse. One common sense thing that I had to discover was that bending your knees and moving your feet constantly makes you able to move more easily. See the boxers doing the same thing.

Most people don't know to take a punch. A simple flick jab will cause folks to freak out as if they were hit by an actual straight right (if you're conventional). Boxing will teach you how to properly throw a punch too, instead of winding up your hand behind you before taking a shot which does fuck all for gaining extra punching power.

When I started boxing, one of the drills I did with my trainer was light offensive sparring with no regard for defense. It was done to get used to the sensation of getting hit.
