Claptrap was unbelievably cringe in the intro, Rafa is exactly like Zane with his quips, just with another accent. The two sidequest NPCs I've met were pretty tame in their lameness. So it's pretty on par for borderlands standards I'd say (for now at least, I only played 2ish hours).
 
I've played about 2 hours of the game so far, on hard difficulty. I was getting around 60 fps in the open world, with some frame rate drops when visiting new places. Turned on frame generation to see what that did, and it increased my frames to 140, although obviously they're fake frames. It did stabilize the open world for me, though. The gunplay is pretty fun, though some of the enemies on hard are a bit bullet-spongey. I'm liking a lot of the guns I've been finding.

Only experienced one crash so far, the writing is okay though it's still kinda eh, I do like the villains in this one though a lot more than the fag twins.
 
I also like bits of the game, but my main gripes are:

1) needs more fast travel places, borderlands kind of drags when theres too much empty stuff in between combat. Especially when I explore a bunch of stuff as side content, and then the main campaign has me drive all the way back, but whatever.

2) too many guns just have shitty cartoonish *pew pew* sound effects, the order/ripper/maliwan manufacterers are almost completely unusable for me because they feel so limp.

there aren't nearly as many jokes, but its not good, its still pretty bad, just like generic bad, so alot more bearable.

Like one side mission is about a missle that turns out to be a dud, and has you rebuild it, all the while it comes to terms with the possibility that it might be a dud forever and its played for feels.

If you're normal, its not a really interesting idea, its not that well written, but its infinetly more bearable than 3 or 2.

It makes sense why they added the claptrap dialog slider, while in other games claptrap wasn't that bad because everyone was doing dogshit standup in your ear. In bl4 claptrap is the last of this kind of "old guard" borderlands writing, saying a bad joke a sentence.

TLDR; its not well written, but its tolerable, for the first time since 1
 
What the fuck, it's already out? I thought it'd be another year or two. Can I get a TLDR/quick rundown? The most pressing (as in fucking infuriating) issues for me were the zingers, girlbosses, troons/dykes, Ava, thinly veiled politics and "wait 5 minutes for the quip-a-thon to finish before your objective updates or the door opens". I want to believe they removed or revamped the tumblr sheboon player character, but that's 100% wishful thinking.

On the subject of Sirens. How’s the new one play? It’s the one class I never bothered with in 2/3 (never played 1 or the spin offs) and I want to give it a try this time round.

I got to level 12 yesterday and all I can say is it's more borderlands. I have noticed less of the childish cringe humor but claptrap is still annoying as fuck. My friend thinks something is missing but can't figure out what. I sometimes wonder where my frames went. Red tree ricochet Rafa causes alot of shit to be happening on the screen, but no crashes. It's all very whelming. Alot of people could easily wait 6 months to a year and pick up the 130 dollars version for like 35 bucks and nothing of value would be lost.
 
My hatred for Unreal Engine 5 can't be explained by mere words.

This game is way uglier than Borderlands 3, with shimmering and flickering everywhere. All the temporal effects turned off make everything jagged and pixilated. It's a nightmare.

Not even the iris/booming effect works decently because UE5 is that big of a piece of shit. Every graphical effect you can imagine that was mastered during the days of the 360 was replaced by something that doesn't work; it's quite hilarious to think about that. Borderlands 3 looks phenomenal to this day and runs butter smooth. That was when Epic was not staffed exclusively with indians and women and they kind of gave a shit.

It's frustrating, really. You look at the world around you and the only thing you see are pixelated low-res textures and assets from a PS3 game, but the game can't keep above 30fps anyway.

The game is really good, believe me, but I needed to vent about this heinous piece of pajeet software. I had to make this post dedicated to shitting on this loathsome pile of aborted garbage engine.

Edit - Eagerly waiting for my nigga threat interactive to shit on UE5 once again in the next few days.

they will probably use the excuse that she's old but you usually don't grow bone unless it's cancer, she's not even boggified like those ancient actresses laying on the butcher's table, she literally grew a fucking jawline.
 
Borderlands 4 looks less Borderlands than 3. Environments look blander, UI looks boring, the humor sounds muted. I'll just wait for Borderlands 3 (or its Pandora's Box bundle) to go on sale to figure out what the hubba is.
 
Borderlands 3 toned down the cell shading by about 50% so they were already moving away from that visual style but this game just looks like Destiny DLC. There's no cell shading at all and the enemy designs don't even have the classic Borderlands look.

If this game didn't have Psychos and Claptrap you couldn't even tell it was supposed to beBorderlands at all.
 
kinda sad about the lack of legacy weapons. Found a fair amount of legendaries so far and they're all brand new. not that it's a bad thing, but iconic guns like the butcher and the unforgiven have been in every single game so far and I'd hate for them to not show up, or worse, be dlc. the wombo combo (high rof vladof that shoots zip rockets alongside bullets) is my favorite so far, found it in a vending machine and it's hard carried me through the entire second act despite being underleveled.
