I saw some review that said he couldn't play the previous bl games because the cell shading gave him headaches, aparently that was a constant for some people which is probably why they toned it down.
damn you are just making me think the celshading should have been a option to tune or atleast a moddable shader so people could just pick the very thick one from the first game

When the guy from the intro appears after the second main boss fight I legitimately thought it was the boy twin from BL3. Id completely forgotten that fucker even existed, I probably didn’t need to spoiler that, I doubt anyone gives a shit about the story.
It's been fun so far...just passed level 10 and pushed slightly further in the story. Nothing ground breaking...humor isn't obnoxious..world doesn't feel Ubisoft-fied. Amon is a pretty sweet Vault Hunter and the voice actor feels familiar.
So do you think it’s worth paying for now or should I just save the money and wait for it to be on sale on steam in the future?
I usually go years between big game purchases but just bought Death Stranding 2 last month so that’s why I’m hesitant lol

Borderlands games almost always eventually have an ultimate edition of some kind which includes all DLC packs and skins so unless you absolutely must have it now I would probably just wait for that.

Thanks for the input, I guess I’ll hold off then
I waited 2 or 3 years after BL3 was released to get it for dirt cheap and honestly still felt like paying that was too much
there was literally only one part of the game that I enjoyed and it was the Handsome Jackpot DLC
I had an infinite amount of fun playing BL2, TPS and even Tiny Tina’s Wonderland in comparison
I've never had more money and I tell myself I dont feel wealthier until I act like it - by buying shit not on sale. But no fucking way am I paying $80 for games that'll be $30 in a year or two. On the other hand, I've bored myself to tears this weekend which Borderlands might've helped with. If not it ran like shit. I can and will play bad games, but bad by design not performance.
Then again the new talent trees don't look much fun to actually progress through like the older ones. Bl3 suffered a lot from dmg% passives and it looks the same here. I want binary new abilities and shit.
What does this fag even do? He only has "game dev" in the bio. Usually these unvalidating ass people add their positions n stuff. Least obvious DEI hire
I've been having a ton of fun with the game. I think it's my favorite in the series so far. Feels like you're always in action unlike the other games which could have you plodding back and forth doing jackshit for awhile. Guns feel nice. Feels quick and fun to play. I can understand people wanting to wait for it to be on sale and that's understandable as it is a lot of money but if you like the series it's worth it in my opinion. I hope the PC players get their shit unfucked soon though

Its worth the money in terms of content/feel of the game but there is no reason to go out and play it right now. I consider games luxury items so the idea that I should spend money I don't have on these things is ludicrous. Most people have an insane backlog/are given free games all the time to the point it's content overload which saturates the gaming experience.
BL4 feels like a competent modern looter shooter which a year from now will feel like the same competent looter shooter.

finally finished, definitely measures up to bl2 imo especially with all the qol, movement, and gear stuff. i kinda lamented the loss of some classic weapons but the licensed part system definitely makes up for that. why would one need a skullmasher when a daedalus shotgun underbarrel on a jakobs sniper is the same thing? legendaries feel good and special again unlike bl3 and even ttwl, and purples are strong too. blue and under are all still trash though and i miss the blue uniques from past games but whatever. I'm worried fan favorites like the sandhawk, dpuh, etc are gonna be locked behind dlc again though. timekeeper is a great villain too. overall feels like more of a soft reboot and it's great. you can make a good borderlands game without leaning on the nostalgia of the previous game. I actually really liked bl3 eventually but maybe it's a good thing for it to have failed to force them to try something new with bl4. also i counted one single jack reference (so far), glad they finally moved on.
only played vex so far but amon looks cool as fuck so gonna do him next. don't care much for the other two honestly. really like that vex is more of the sniper archetype, feels way different from previous sirens that were very much forced into relying heavily on elemental stuff.
if i have any complaints it's that some enemies can get a little bullet spongy, and the hard difficulty doesn't do much other than making them even more bullet spongy. and i found a handful of minibosses that seem to have annoying homing attacks that are impossible to avoid for the sake of adding difficulty to an otherwise unremarkable fight but that's probably just a skill issue on my end.
i feel like the arjay/lilith stuff was added last minute, does not fit in with the rest of the story at all. i yearn for the game that lilith turns evil and we get to kill her, im so sick of this bitch, she should have stayed dead after bl3.
and i was actually kinda bummed that ava didn't show up. i know everyone hated her and i did too but i was interested to see how they would handle her and just ignoring her entirely seems kinda anticlimactic
also the hot slugger is the best weapon in the game that i've found so far. idk where it actually drops though because it was in Maurice's vending machine for me. single shot single slug jakobs shotty, gets a 30% dmg boost whenever you kill something with it up to 90% total. completely melts trash mobs and bosses alike, especially with vex's crit skills and an amp repkit/shield.
