After being ported on every single piece of electronics available on God's green Earth, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is coming to tabletop.

fun fact, it's not the first, just the first one with that explicit name (gotta get that brand recognition).
this one came out in 2019: https://www.modiphius.net/pages/elder-scrolls

I assume it didn't wasn't as successful, especially with the coof happening the next year and considering the license probably wasn't cheap - or bethesda was smart enough to give them a better deal and reap returns via the IP names itself since modiphius does fallout and dishonored as well. it's also crowdfunded, but I'm not knocking that (tbh wouldn't do it any other way as a company, easiest way to gauge interest and offload some of the risk).

haven't tried it yet since licensed for me automatically screams the license is supposed to make up for a lackluster game (and there are new coop crawlers coming out constantly), but after looking at it I'm curious what they use all those minis are for in an adventure game.
well, at least you could probably use them for rangers of shadow deep and the upcoming 5 leagues (both also from modiphious, dunno if that's intentional overlap or cannibalization, but they're both quite good. anyone into solo/coop tabletops should check them out).

the best thing to do would be copy down the rules and do it with pen and paper online rather than give these piggies the shekels

But will it support sex mods?
It's cardboard, just print out a .jpg of boobies and add it to the game. You now have a modded Skyrim.

well, the rules are free, so...
and then you could play it on tabletop simulator (has an official version anyway).

didn't hear anything negative so far about modiphius (but also don't follow the scene that closely so might have missed it), if you mean bethesda, dunno what their license deal looks like but I doubt they get royalties instead of a flat sum. that's why I wouldn't have a problem paying for it, or rather rangers/5 leagues.

I have finally finished punching the chits for Panzer (all the expansions up until France 1940). This is a celebratory post, and I'll take my puzzle pieces with pride. IMG_20211212_145151.jpg

I've been getting into solo board games (or games you can run solo). It's becoming an expensive hobby, but it's a better alternative to drinking alone.

Since I work at my LGS I come across a boat load of board games. Majority i pick up. Just got my hands on Twilight Inscription and I honestly quiet enjoyed it. Even if my first solo game I played completely wrong.

Love Zombicide second edition and Zombicide Black Plague/ Green Horde.
Also love Cthulhu: Death May Die, Return to Dark Tower, Nemesis can be fun with the right group of people. Axis and Allies, Can orginal Car Wars be considered a board game? Played some Star Fleet Battles back in the day, too. But that was way too detailed for me.

Those are some board games I like off the top of my head.

Also a fan, picked up a few Kickstarter figs, the Urban Legends abominations and Fort Hendrix.

Any opinions on their Night of the Living Dead edition? Presentation wise it's as awesome as ever, but IMO if you want a better Romero experience this is what you should seek. https://www.whitedoggames.com/night-living-dead

Anyway, I got wayyyy too many collected over the years besides the Zombicide stuff. First edition Dune, the old microgames from the early 80's, Tom Wham's opuses. Recent addiction has been from LockNLoad (All Things Zombie and Forgotten Heroes: Vietnam), pretty solid company.

Current Holy Grail is a copy of Divine Right that doesn't cost a fucking college tuition payment.

Never played that version. But I heard it has two sets of rules. Rules for a Romero, survival horror type game, not much gear/ ammo to find and you don't level up.

Then they have the core Zombicide rules. So you can add the gear and survivors to core game.

So right after you took this pic, did your cat jump up and run across the table, knocking everything over? 😉

Back in the 80s, me and a couple of friends had to call an Axis and Allies game because that happened.

Not quite. The characters usually begin a scenario in Romero mode, where they have far less perks (including that all too important yellow level extra action) and are limited to sub-standard weapons. If certain conditions are met, the characters can go into Zombicide mode (though I liken it more to them getting adrenaline) where they get full perks and can draw much better gear.

But again, I say go for the White Dog version if you want a more accurate to the movie experience. I'm looking into seeing if I can get a slightly larger scale map of the White Dog game so that the Zombicide figures scale better.

We had several games of Dreadfleet disrupted on account of our cats. We just dubbed it "Titan Kitty Attack" it happened so much.

always preferred https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/29368/last-night-earth-zombie-game to zombicide. or maybe it's just my dislike of coolminiornot.
Nothing wrong with Last Night, in fact my group seems to love it. The production value of the game is on par with cmon, though I don't like the figures quite as much.

Any good examples?
most coop games can be played solo, although you might have to doublehand it sometimes or it's a bit off when it's originally balanced for 4 people.
as for specific games, mage knight is apparently better solo (mostly due to it's length and downtime with more players), and there are a few specifically solitaire games which name I can't remember, but they should be in some boardgamegeek geeklist (there are a few, and it only got bigger during the pandemic with everyone stuck in lockdown).

the arkham horror/lotr card game might be more enjoyable solo too, but unless you want to play it on TTS or OCTGN can be quite expensive. I'd also include gloomhaven, since it's more like a puzzle and time-limited race, so you need to be on the same level of play like everyone else to not drag it down (or get dragged down). but then there are so many little things that rub me the wrong way about that game (like having to pick up gold during the map, not afterwards, and the quests ends immediately once the winning condition is fulfilled), so ymmv.

my dislike for cmon is mostly due to their business practice and how they overload their kickstarters with exclusive plastic (sure, as a mate of mine says "you don't need all of it", but since he's even more of a collector than me that argument is a bit disingenuous).
quality wise the components and minis are top notch, but lot of times also unnecessary. other kickstarters do that too, but at least there it's a separate stretch goal or addon just for the minis (and nothing gameplay related) you can choose not to get - like tainted grail and it's wandering monsters for example, since they hardly show up, get killed fast and are random, a simple token is more than fine in this case.

I been loving Cthulhu: Death May Die. Anyone else play it? The way you can mix scenario makes for a ton of replayability.
