Since my previous thread kinda-sorta turned into a soft megathread, and the tech layoffs will continue until morale improves, I think it's better to group them all together.

The UK is facing massive unemployment, and these fucks are making it impossible for people to find jobs and are giving employers the impression that there are no workers willing to work.

How the government haven't stepped in is beyond me, because it makes their unemployment figures look worse than what they are.

I don't know how these people survive? Digs in a HMO (Home ofmultiple occupancy, which is just a room with a bed in it, shared kitchen and shared bathroom) Start at £400 a month in shit hole areas. Universal credit only covers £395 a month with £90 a week for spending money to live on.
£10 a week is a phone bill. No way you can afford a car on £80 a week while trying to buy food that, even eating slop, will cost £5-£10 a day.
That's before factoring in washing detergent, shower gel, toothpaste and any kind of clothing.
I don't know how people are still alive.

After 3 months unemployment I would be working in Mcdonalds or a factory. If that couldn't happen, by the 6 month point I would be selling weed. Fuck having no job or purpose for 2 years. How can you even find the motivation to want to play computer games?

Shit is fucked.

Yep. Look, WFH can be nice for some but a LOT of people legit log in at 8am and log off at 4pm and do NOTHING all day besides maybe answer and email then go get high.
 
It's not even like you can get a random gig for 6 months while you try to find a better fitting job. Having such a short stop on your resume is a big red flag, and even if you actually fill it in, it's a red flag. "Why'd you stoop to this?". That's where a family man 3 decades ago would go "I DO WHAT IT TAKES FOR MY PEEPOL" and people go "damn right oorah".

If you don't land a job through your degree straight out the gate, you're donezo.

And those who do get IT jobs, get 3-4 at once, barely treading water until they get fired just so they can snap another one up. It's like all the women flocking to Chad, but Chad is a sweaty 'remote worker'.

I just came up with a brilliant business strategy.

Give away a real-time AI interface to people interviewing. Would take the audio from your computer and send it to AI and display the results in real time. In the background it would put a sub-audible signal on the audio input going into Zoom or Teams or whatever.

Then, sell a decoder to businesses that would flag any candidate in an interview with the sub-audible signal so they can be immediately dismissed.
