Lucky Strikes used to be my go to brand, but they changed the formula sometime after the 90s. They're just more astringent than they used to be. Now I smoke Camel reds.

Pall Mall is a good alternative to Marlboro. Blue for lights, red for cowboy killers.

I stay the fuck away from menthol unless I'm sick. Newports are for niggers and potheads.

I roll my own and typically buy Bali Shag or Drum. Shag-cut halfzware tobacco has a very rich flavor and rolls smoothly.

If you don't want to roll your own and just want to buy a pack, American Spirits regular (teal pack) or their perique cut (black box) are good. Smooth draw and they burn for ages.

In all seriousness though Camel reds are really good. They're the best of a compromise. They are not as strong as Lucky, but with a better taste now that Lucky changed their formula. The Wide variety is good for getting a quick fix if you're on the clock, 99's for a long burn, and regular is between those two.

I'll play it safe and tell you to stick to Marlboro. If you want something out there see if you can find Gudang Garam (impossible in America I would presume). Dunhills are also a nice option.
