But US ambassador for United Nations, Nikki Haley, talk say di protest dem start just like dat. She say US wan arrange emergency UN meeting.

Protest like dis don happen before?
Yes.

Na 2009 Iran see dis kain protest but e only happen for Tehran, di capital.

Dat time dem call di protest "Green Movement" and dem do am say dem no support when di president of dat time, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, win election.

I guess I'm too far up north to run into people who speak like that.

They get rarer each year, as forced assimilation policies on the part of individual states (coupled with federal support) did a lot to kill unique linguistic communities. Teddy Roosevelt in particular was fond of assimilationism. I can speak Louisiana French, a composite multi-parish dialect which survives, and Gullah limps along in South Carolina, but as far as I know Louisiana creole is only spoken by a handful of octogenarians now.

I tried to read this but I had a stroke halfway.

At least it's somewhat intelligible enough that a standard English speaker can get it. Still hurts to read though. It's like your mind is saying "Hey that's not English! What's going on here?".

It looks like it would be hard or impossible to use pidgin to write any sort of flowery or poetic literature.

I tought it was a english and italian mix until I read the coments.

That’s because pidgin languages originated as trade languages, so that a buyer and seller could get basic ideas across to each other without having to fluently speak each other’s language.

I do like how they translate other people's words into Pidgin but include a "Donal Trump" tweet unedited because it's equally intelligible.

Exactly this! Pidgins are primitive not because their speakers are primitive, but because they're meant to be learnt quickly and easily for a very specific purpose - trade and basic communication. As a result, grammar and morphology are very, very simplified.

African and East Asian pidgins aren't something unique. Historical examples of pidgins are the Basque-Islandic pidgin spoken by fishermen and whalers in the 17th century, Russian-Norwegian trade language Russenorsk and the so-called Kyakhtian language, spoken by traders at the Russian-Chinese border in 18th-early 20th century, among others. They all look absolutely ridiculous to native speakers of their base languages because of their very basic grammatical and morphological structures, often combining features of two unrelated languages. For example, here's a remnant of Kyakhtian language - "Моя твоя не понимай!" (literally "Mine your not understand!"). Said pidgin also featured highly Sinicized phonetics and odd compound words like "ума-конейчайло" (uma-koneychailo) —"madness" or literally "end of mind".

There's an irony in the British Broadcasting Company actively destroying it's own language to the altar of Political Correctness to publish news in "pidgin".
In some former English colonies with a hodgepodge of languages and tribal identities, like Nigeria or Ghana, Pidgin English is the lingua franca for the locals. BBC Pidgin is an obvious attempt at reaching out to them and has nothing to do with political correctness.

What the fuck is this pidgin shit? This is just phonetically spelt english with a thick accent. Historically pidgin is a mix of loan words between multiple languages, this is just shit-English. I didn't realize shit was a a language.

Where did they get this style of writing? Does anyone actually write like this? How is this not just a racist caricature of how people talk? It's like if I just started writing like a 10 year old and adding ching-chong nip-nong at the end of sentences to make it English-Chinese pidgin.

Reminder that places like Wikipedia have a simplified English edition and here are many constructed English-subsets for international standards (including aviation): https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basic_English

Which is dumb since if you go on a Nigerian internet forum like Nairaland you can see the people actually trying to talk normal English. Trying to make a standard pidgin language is beyond retarded since it's almost by definition pidgins can't be standardized. Nigerian pidgin English is not Ghanan pidgin English is not AAVE ("ebonics"). Hence why this looks rather racist if you didn't know otherwise.

Would that be a mix of French and Spanish?

Spanish influences in Louisiana Creole are mostly minor except in historical Iberia Parish communities. It did lend a lot of specific vocabulary during our city's period of Spanish rule, though (during which most of the "French Quarter's" famous architecture was built. Those pretty iron balconies with all the plants? Spanish, lol. ) What else it contributed entered in a roundabout way- through Haitians, whose dialect was heavily Spanish influenced during their early independence period. Louisiana Creole is mostly an early modern French/Haitian Creole/English composite. Up until the 1950's a quarter of New Orleans spoke it (and a million outside the city spoke either it or Louisiana "Cajun" French- about half the population at the time.)

Unfortunately, the policies of the Union language ban (such as shutting down French newspapers, burning libraries and schools, etc.) during the Civil War dealt a huge blow, and by the time Woodrow Wilson's policies began, the effect was nearly irreversible. If I recall correctly the languages were completely outlawed around 1921 or so. I even had a few relatives jailed back in the 60's or so for speaking French in public. The ban got lifted in the seventies, but...well, y'know.

Yep and despite all of this, French is still widely spoken. In the Acadiana Parishes around 1/3 of the residents speak French. I wish it was still like this in the city, but as you said, those harsh policies prevented growth of the language. People would speak it at home but were severely discouraged from doing so in public. I didn't know that people were jailed for speaking it at any point, especially as recent as the 60's. That's wild!!

I know that you remember hearing about kids being disciplined with corporal punishment in schools for speaking French, that still went on in our parents' generation and was widespread during our grandparents' time.

Back to what I was first saying though; I was recently at a drug store in one of the Acadiana Parishes and they had a separate line for French speakers to pick up their prescriptions. I thought that was pretty cool.

I remember from Louisiana history in high school that when the Spanish took over for the French, they were much more hands on with the administration of the city. IIRC there was a fire that destroyed some of the French Quarters so the Spanish rebuilt it in their trademark style. A lot of public offices for the city were created during this time as well, as spending on public works increased under Spanish rule. The French had a more laissez faire approach for the city's administration, particularly in the beginning.

Along with the architecture, they have those old-timey plaques on the side of buildings that have the streets names in Spanish, plus the names themselves. You have Judge Perez (in the parish) then Galvez, Miro, Ulloa and of course the Cabildo in the city.

Di matter never really clear but one source tell BBC Pidgin say na Nigeria secret police na im arrest di Abazonia leader and im people sake of say dia papers to stay di country don expire.

But some activist say di arrest dey political, because most of di Abazonia Governing Council members get Asylum/Refugee status, wey mean say dem no need paper to remain inside di country.

Now activists wey dey support di break-away movement for southern Cameroon want Nigeria government to explain wetin happen to dia leader, while odas dey accuse Cameroon security say na dem do di arrest for Abuja.

As e be so, e never dey clear who really arrest oga Julius and di oda Cameroon activist inside Abuja.

Nigeria Police never respond to di message BBC News Pidgin send give dem to confirm whether dem aware of di Friday arrest inside Abuja.

Before dis arrest bin happen, BBC News Pidgin bin report on Thursday say e don pass 28,000 people wey don run comot Cameroon enter Nigeria as refugees because of di Anglophone palava for southern Cameroon.

Di refugee dem scatter for different towns for states inside Nigeria including Abuja, Lagos, Enugu, Benue, Akwa Ibom and Cross River.

I love the fucking Pidgin section of the BBC. It's just so unintentionally funny and maybe racist at the same time. Also apparently some secessionist guy was captured and there's refugees and shiet. I don't know.

But im say di solution to stop Boko Haram, fit be when countries join bodi.

Obasanjo say make countries from 'Lake Chad basin' and di 'Sahel' come together to form joint multinational task force, so dem go prevent di palava wey di militia group or odas fit cause.

No chance to use di animals for chop
To come make everything worst, local authorities don say dem no fit use di meat from di animals do anything.
