custom games are pointless when 90% play normal, 10% play classic, and it won't support MUH PROGRESSION. revival of the "classic" maps of which the majority were crap or had major issues, get ready for metro/locker 2.0.
don't think it's gonna support hardline maps/mods either.

I don't expect anything and will probably still be disappointed.

My skepticism is why have they haven’t shown us raw uncut gameplay of 2042s actual main mode? This portal stuff is nice but knowing the community a rule set will pop up and will be on a majority of servers.

my suspicion is it will be the same basic bitch modes with the excuse "hurr, just make your own then", similar to overwatch custom games, which in the end won't fix anything.

since forever the MO to keep people "engaged" was to bury them under progressions where have to unlock basic shit, and good luck if you don't keep up with the grinders/nolifers and try to go against a full pimped out tank/planefag. (tbf it's almost impossible to properly balance the combined arms gameplay with that braindead community that turns every mode into TDM - one of the reasons hardline's hotwire/heist was so damn good).
I just doubt that they'll allow people to circumvent all that (and render possible booster/shortcut sales moot) by creating modes for max xp/hour.

and honestly, even with gameplay it won't say anything about the technical state of the game, nor if they ever bothered to take care of hackers and other shit on pc - and fuck giving sony/ms money just to be able to play your multiplayer games.

I forgot about the progression/exp grind, yeah, it probably won't be an actual custom game mode but perhaps some kind of weekly rotation of wacky game modes like on MCC and CoD.

Called it. And I'm not going to renege on this, this does have my interest now and I genuinely hope the 2042 does well.

I'm just going to wait for post-release opinions a month or two after before I consider getting it.
 
Having those old maps be remade does make me feel a bit better about the game, 13 maps is a better sale than 7.

I'll certainly give the beta a spin in September, any details about what's included in it?
 
EA is always smart in how it has a team of dedicated youtuber shills. Frankly, it’s somewhat odd to me that so much battlefield fans hold this diehard optimism for dice.

Flashy trailers really are all you need.
 
im pretty optimistic for 2042, since DICE knows they CANT fuck up one bit after the marketing disaster known as #everyonesbattlefield, and also we're probably gonna get lots CoD players jumping ship since CW was shit and sledgehammer is making ANOTHER ww2 game (predictably turbo-garbage)

I don't know how people can say this and believe it after the past ten years. Maybe I'm old and jaded but EA looks at every game as games as a service, this isn't going to suddenly change with a new Battlefield just because the last one sucked. These are the same guys who release the same game every year but with just one character changed in the title.

the whole "games as a service" model has been slowly getting phased out lately and being replacing battlepacks with completely optional battlepasses, that thankfully aren't blatant gambling and they explicitly stated everything they add to 2042 that is gameplay content (new maps, weapons for either portal or all-out war and operators) is going to be 100% free with the game. i assume that they're going to take the same approach with the community as apex legends. i.e trying harder to put an ear up to them
