They apparently backtracked from the e3 trailer, but no one cares lol.

This one was definitely overshadowed by Battlefield 1.

Backtracked as in no minorities or disableds in the trailer or that they're backtracking from saying it's not political?

I was really disappointed that it wasn't Battlefield : Bad Company 3. Hero classes looks like an easy SJW way to force themselves into more games. Queer nonbinary tranny or Swedetwink, a tru and hanest woman or the geekiest little beta will probably be the first 4 revealed, just to ensure that the fucking alphabet rainbow is interested.

They have to sell customization somehow.

No robotic arms and slightly more grounded aesthetics (at launch, later cosmetics and elites fucked that up).

They were still bitter about the backlash, and had a launch party with quotes on a screen used to mock the "bigots".

After the way BFV flopped and floundered, they've distanced themselves from "taking a stand" with this game.

So backtracking as with the trailer, gotcha.

They literally had nonbinary as a gender option in a game set during the early 1980's.

They didn't step back shit. Although they did make it mute by default.
I don't even recall that choice ever actually coming up. Everyone calls you Belle, nobody ever so much as refers to you as he/she/it, and any time Bell is visible on screen, they're wearing a non-descript fucking balaclava and baggy clothes. The choice was 100% there just so Activision could get uWu goodboi brownie points and anyone that thought the game was progressive for including it is a paste eating retard.

Still was retarded they even tried to pull that shit in the first place.
No, truly retarded was doubling down with "if you don't like it, don't buy it" and then having a display at their launch party of them making fun of people that didn't like the dumb woke shit, then getting upset that their game didn't launch to high numbers.

To me that option was always there because the story is about agents doing secret operations so the less they know about your identity (male or female) in the files, the better. As for calling that third option "non binary", it's probably to virtue-signal and cater to the game journos.

Also funny how these faggots and their glorified mental illness didn't start popping up until the last decade.
Don't ask don't tell was an effective policy and no one really cared otherwise.

Glad BF2042's marketing wasn't "Look at how cool and badass this woman soldier is! Fuck people who think that's retarded, we're doubling down and don't want you as customers!" and went back to "look at the wild fun sandbox shit you can do in our game! You can launch an ATV at a helicopter, or jump out of a plane, shoot down an enemy's jet, then land back in your own!" which implies the former didn't work and lead to poor sales. They also even pushed against it by saying that the climate stuff in the game isn't a political statement (which pissed off retards who need their worldview constantly validated).

My main concern is the operators, it's too close to hero-shooter for Battlefield. I wish they just added character customization with seperate selectable gadgets because you know there will be DLC operators with jetpacks and shit that you have to buy. And they'll add dumb political shit to virtue signal.

DICE are the biggest hacks in the industry, their sales tactic is to just make their games look and sound good so that people will be blinded and buy it. DICE are so unbelievably piss-poor when it comes to actual game design; their games always release completely unbalanced and the maps have no flow or design to them. With Battlefield 2042 it seems like they've learned nothing and it will just be another highly accessible shooter with pretty colors and sounds. The last good Battlefield game was Bad Company 2.

DICE are the Gods of style over substance.

Bro they have literally never made a good singleplayer.
Bad Company 2 was a phenomenal game imo. BF3 and 4 had some merits to their gameplay, but they veered off into excessive grinding for tangible nothingness a la CoD Prestige.

I actually enjoyed Bad Company 2's single player as well. It was full of flaws, especially in tension, pacing and the lack of anything memorable, but the gameplay was great. It's why I didn't like CoD BLOPS, where you had no free control over any vehicle you stepped in, and it was a purely setpieced on-rails affair.

This new one looks okay, but it will come down to how much environmental destruction and freedom of choice they give you. My curiosity has been piqued, but they'll need to do a lot to win me over.

Not impressed with BF2042 but it's a whole lot better than BFV. They can do whatever dumb bullshit they want now since it's the future. Make-believe technology, make-believe female soldiers and whatever else is inside their tiny peabrains. The removal of dedicated roles and the inclusion of hero classes says to me that Battlefield has no identity anymore and will be whatever popular trend exists today albeit with the legacy name "Battlefield" on the cover. I'll take bland mediocrity over screaming failure any day of the week. Don't plan on playing it though.
