Suspension of disbelief takes you only so far. If you start off with "Stories of the untold, unheard" and then whip out British cyborg woman, well, that's legitimately offensive.
That's the key take away for much of the game's controversies, the universal inclusion of female soldiers (why they didn't just use the Soviets or actual resistance factions I'll never know) mixed with the wacky cosmetics was too ridiculous for a lot of people, more so when DICE was boasting about the game being an "immersive" experience.

The inclusion of the likes of Tom Cruise at the end of the it's life further stretched what was left of that suspension.

$70 for Battlefield 4.5 next gen? No thanks.

Less content than BFV (which itself had less content than BF1) while charging an extra $10?

I hope the rumors of it being a day one GamePass title is true, otherwise this might be another Battlefront 2015...

DICE are the biggest hacks in the industry, their sales tactic is to just make their games look and sound good so that people will be blinded and buy it. DICE are so unbelievably piss-poor when it comes to actual game design; their games always release completely unbalanced and the maps have no flow or design to them. With Battlefield 2042 it seems like they've learned nothing and it will just be another highly accessible shooter with pretty colors and sounds. The last good Battlefield game was Bad Company 2.

DICE are the Gods of style over substance.

>no SP mode
Bro they have literally never made a good singleplayer.

Does playing with 127 bots count? Still not really worth paying attention still but now at least I know if it's $10 in a year I can still play without going online.
That's admittingly a good thing, bot battles can help a game's longevity (hopefully the next Battlefront does the same).

I'm also relieved to see that the aesthetic appears more grounded than BFV, although the BPs will likely change that.
