One legitimate concern I have with Battlefield 6 is that kernel level anti cheat built into it. Something about having full access to your computer to play a game is scary.
You unironically play modern COD games, what the fuck are you talking about? If it was so "scary" you wouldn't be tripping over yourself to finish their battlepasses when the next trough of slop is delivered every season. If anything, this is par for the course, you're living proof that modern day online shooter fans are nigger cattle that will give up their very own hardware potentially to play these games. And if Activision can get away with it, why can't EA?

That is totally in character of Riot Games to label competitors as spyware and block them from running. Maybe that's another reason why Valve's games don't have kernel anti-cheats, just so that Vanguard can't block their games.
it's basically a tug of war between which spyware gets to keep stealing data at ring0.

I’m going to elect to ignore you. Have a good day.

Yeah I did the same thing.

Just got to max level so I might as well give my two cents on it, this might end up being a week one buy for me, I just hope the second beta period gives us new maps, because it's been confirmed that the ones we playing now are the smallest ones.
We're getting the New York Map next week as well as death match and Squad Death Match

Played BF4 for almost 1000 hours combined on Xbox + PC from launch to 2018ish, liked Hardline and BF1 but didn't play them much. So far the beta feels great and I've been having a lot of fun trying to go defibrilator only for revives and kills. Lots of MW2019 melee-only muscle memory coming into play.

Legitimate question: for people enjoying the beta, is the kernel anti cheat worrisome to you or not? If not, why?

This is going to sound like me bitching out, but I'm not worried mainly because I legitimately don't have anything worth stealing on my computer. Google and Microsoft already steal my info to sell to China anyway, so EA doing so is whatever

Nigger cattle has nothing to say, all it can do is moo and you're no different since you didn't give me a single counter argument. Say hello to Beavis and Butthead for me next time you play Black Ops 6.

I've heard that they really copied MW2019 a lot, which is not just ironic but hilarious considering that COD is on it's last legs and that they stole their thunder with MW2019. That said, I still think the PC sales will flounder simply because I doubt anybody who doesn't meet the requirements to play the game(ie a brand new computer since an older one could be fried) will go out of their way to buy a new one just to play this, maybe a console if anything.
This alone is a high burden to bear for any game and Battlefield has a long way to climb after BF5 and 2042. EA is flying too close to the sun by having these retardedly optimistic expectations when their game is maybe just a tad bit better than their last one and the modern FPS fanbase has such strong stockholm syndrome that it's good enough to immediately christen BF6 as the next best thing since sliced bread. For a BF fanboy or a scorned COD fan with no alternatives, maybe, but any and I mean anything that hampers the ability to play the game for the average joe, like the hardware requirements or an invasive anti cheat, is bad news and less sales. Don't forget you have to play this thing on Origin too and deal with EA's bullshit on PC as well.

looks like i was playing with brightness set to 100% the whole time
i set it to 50% and the game looks not only better but also much more like battlefield 3

Same, they also have other ways/apps that already steal your data likely. Even steam nowadays sells your data and the EA app sure as shit does too.

Kernel level anti-cheat can still be bypassed and I wouldn't be surprised if people found a way to spoof the Secure Boot requirement in the near future, as Call Of Duty might also be getting one.

We either need to go back to dedicated servers with admins that manually ban cheaters or an AI AC, the current systems aren't good enough.

This would be ideal but people forget that dedicated servers cost money that parent companies don't want to host. Rent a server I'm pretty sure didn't even cover the operation cost in the older battlefield games

Why would we? EA knows it's userbase is full of naive, dumb saps like @Professor Donger who will willingly give them all their data. Hell, if there was a line in the EULA that EA can send one of it's representatives to sodomize him at their leisure, he wouldn't have a problem with it either. "It's just a little tickle, who cares? Doesn't effect me if I can play the game!"
And yes, those Anti-Cheats mean jack shit, if anything it makes it even easier to hijack your computer since hackers can use them to bypass security all together at root level. We already have cheaters in the beta at day zero of the game's life cycle, you're retarded if you think we won't see PC players getting RATs like COD players are at some point.

"We have to get our negholes pozzed because hosting dedicated servers is too expensive for billion dollar companies. Leave them alone! :("
Case and point. I hope hackers run a train on the retarded cattle userbase of BF6 on PC like they did with COD. You know damn well EA won't care, and neither should they.

I'm debating whether or not to give into my inner manchild because this is genuinely fun and preorder. I'm seeing friends I haven't seen online in years come online to play the open beta.

:disagree: for "don't pre-order"

:agree: for "pre-order"
Back in the days of physical releases, pre-ordering actually had a utility in insuring you could actually get the game, but ,as far as I'm aware, pre-ordering BF6 only gives some dumb cosmetic so there's no reason to do it

BF6 has the same gunplay and movement as 2042
🏆: never actually played 2042 award

Finally having gotten around to play the beta, I'm pleasantly surprised. The guns certainly feel a lot meatier. I do wonder how the other vehicles will fare.

So I played a few rounds. Thought it felt like Battlefield on vibe but found a few things annoying.

1. TTK seems a little fast. I might just be getting old though.
2. The maps I got to play are adequate but not great. I want to see how it plays on a full, open combined arms map like Wake Island, Gulf of Oman, Firestorm (which I think I saw in the trailer) or Caspian Border. Or funny ones, like the golf course from bad company 1.
3. Didn’t play whatever they call rush now. Need to try.
4. Did they get rid of healing packs in favor of the adrenaline injector? Didn’t see anyone using them.
5. This is pet peeve level, but the fact that you can’t undersling the grenade launcher if you don’t use a grip on your rifle is annoying.
6. Fuck kernel level anti cheat.

Overall, promising, but will wait for a few weeks after launch for rug pulls, woke marketing, stability issues, abusive monetization and other fuckups/dealbreakers.
