Battlefield 2042 is repeating what did in Medal of Honor. Chasing trends, unoptimized performance, taking itself seriously, detracting from the roots of the franchise.

For both of them, it was CoD. Medal of Honor tried to be Modern Warfare and failed hard with Warfighter. 2042 is trying to be CoD with its monetization and Apex Legends with the specialists. It's failing.

Hell, they practically abandoned Titanfall because Apex Legends unexpectedly took off.

And DICE devs continue to be delusional, in typical DICE fashion.

And the April Patch Notes are still a "work in progress".

By trying to be like other titles and chasing trends it is a game that is abandoning its core identity that made Battlefield so successful in the first place.

The April update for BF2042 will be deploying next week:

Some of the bug fixes include:
  • No ADS bug after exiting vehicle has been addressed (worst bug in the game imo, about time it was fixed).
  • Unable to revive when player model collides with walls etc addressed (another pretty terrible bug)
  • Changes to vehicles/infantry interplay, guessing this is as per their previous communication
  • Teamplay tweaks with regards to the way XP is rewarded. Hopefully that means 'assist counts as kill' has made a comeback as it absolutely sucks to do 90% of the damage and not be rewarded, particularly infantry vs vehicles
  • Changes to the way attachments work, sounds like they will no longer have copy/paste attributes that make 90% of them pointless.
  • Changes to Sundance smart grenade target acquisition to prioritize closer targets.
  • Many more fixes/changes apparently.

Hovercraft wallriding will also be removed in this patch:

And DICE devs say that most of their team is working on BF2042, but it sure doesn't look like it, at all.

DICE, unsurprisingly, is doubling down on Specialists, even though almost no one in the Battlefield community wanted them in the first place:

Temporyal also datamined an unreleased specialist, Hale, who uses the RC-XD from Black Ops 1:

And a DICE dev says that they want to turn BF2042 around, but given how terrible the bones of the game are, it's going to be an act of futility:

The one other example of trying to turn around a game with terrible bones, is The Sims 4. Maxis and EA managed to milk the hell out of the game, with all of the DLC releases, and they claimed that the lack of features on launch was because TS4 was designed to be "good bones", which turned out to be a lie. The later expansion releases, i.e. Eco-Lifestyle, and My Wedding Stories, as well as the very buggy and very limited nature of the game, quickly erased that "good bones" facade.

Pathetic, how else are they going to rip Call of Duty off? Are they going to stoop to having an attack dog ability like in COD Ghosts?

It's bad enough that they're continuing to shove specialists down our throats, trying to be more like COD is just desperate.

Just wait till the next COD gets rid of classes and brings back loadout customization. BF players would go in full copium mode.

When will Dice & EA learn that you can't try being like COD without losing your existing customer base on a pre-existing franchise like Battlefield. These IPs can't be modified on a whim unless you're willing to alienate the audience. Unless you're getting money from trying to suck Larry Fink's cock and raise your ESG score.

HAVE YOU LEARNED NOTHING??!!

Well, RIP Battlefield.

I'll give in to those devs. I'm pretty sure they're in a "GG, go next" mindset so reworking the game for specialists isn't worth it to them. Tom Henderson leaked that they were already working on the next battlefield so it seems like they're treating their breadcrumb of a player base as guinea pigs. So, it sucks for them but this is the bed they made and now they're gonna suffer some back pain until the next bed comes in from overseas with a wait time of 2 to 3 years.

GG, go next

Exactly. EA and DICE won't change because they have deliberately turned every studio ESG-friendly under Laura Miele's command.
What happened to EA (and Microsoft) will happen to Activision and Ubisoft in the next couple of years. These two publishers have recently hired people dedicated to the DIE ideology.

Oh DICE learned alright. They learned the wrong lessons.

And it's interesting that Battlefield 4 had Dog Tags for all of the Country flags at the time of the game's release, and are available to all players from the start. This wouldn't happen in today's Battlefield, because of the "problematic flags" available, i.e. Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, North Korea, Russia, and Palestine/Israel. (depends on which side you Stan) And EA would surely sell those flag dog tags, and the Ukraine one (or which ever country is in distress) would have part of the sales go to some sort of charity in the said country.

I can see why BF veterans would dislike Hardline. At the same time, it's a well executed parody without taking itself so seriously.

Damn, Drunkz is probably looking to commit seppuku or something in minecraft. I can't imagine this botched mess is the unadulterated input of a competitive player.

That, or maybe he's been buck broken by EA and Dice. It is Sweden after all.
