From what I'm hearing, PC versions of Battlefield are being compromised by hackers.

Or that EA/DICE have shitty security. Remember that Star Wars: Battlefront II and Titanfall met the same fate.
I was actually thinking the same thing. Given how predatory the game industry has become, it's not farfetched.

This probably isn't the first time that BF4 overtook BF2042 in number of players, but it does go to show how badly 2042 fell off. And note that BF4 only was sold on Steam since 2020, and was an Origin-only title on PC before that, compared to how 2042 was available on Steam since launch.

I remember thinking Battlefront 2 was an unmitigated disaster, but it can't compare to this. Holy shit did they fuck up catastrophically.

DICE announced upcoming changes to only two maps in BF2042, Kaleidoscope and Renewal. One thing of note is that shipping crates are once again additions to the maps, and the Distribution Center on Renewal will be removed and turned into an out of bounds area.
The Bolte and the Littlebird will also be re-categorized, to lessen the amount of spam for both.
They also say that they can't add more civilian or transport vehicles, because it would be a "performance hit".

Back to Battlefield V:
I'm using a double barreled shotgun (I think M60 Drilling) for Team Deathmatch. It's quite effective, but limited ammo and short range requires you to bob and weave for maximum efficiency. Still, it's unique enough to break the monotony.

I wouldn't. They already showed they can't stick to weapons of a particular era. Besides, they'd never do killing communists now.

Nothing at this point, EA just kills off good game studios.
Competition is the best way to deal with subpar shit and right now, some studio will have to find out a way to bring back the magic and make it big.
The original guys have probably moved on and we are stuck with diversity obsessed jackoffs, there is no hope saving it.

Given that Homefront was banned in South Korea, that would already be a loss of potential players. And depending on how China is depicted, given their involvement, the game being banned in China would be a much bigger loss too.

What era? It would be as "historical" as Battlefield One with the not-quite-M14 and the various FAL prototypes showing up. What, you wanted the actual in-use weapons? Like the Garand, M2 Carbine, and Mosin? Can't sell DLC for that!
