The map recreations in Portal are pretty fantastic.
The issues are that the modes with times and spawns isn't balanced.
The weapons aren't balanced.
Destruction is bugged compared to the original.
You can't physically destroy MCOMs.
Tracer darts don't work properly. You can't even lock on to an enemy tagged with one.
Can't deploy C4 in the water. Not that it matters because mcoms can't be blown up.
You can't chose specific specialisations for each class.

There are endless things that should have been picked up on if anyone who ever played BC2 was involved in the remastered game.

Yet dice is concerned about nerfing recon balls for 2042. Did anyone see any patch notes for improving Portal modes? Nope.

Here's the full patch notes for Update 3.1, which will be released tomorrow. In addition to the said proxy grenade nerfs, it also includes nerfs to vehicle weapon damage vs. infantry, bolt-action rifles (the reload time was increased in a previous patch, but DICE forgot to increase the animation length to match it, so they'll be doing that here), the robot dog (reduced range and health, people complained about how tanky he is), and frag grenades (damage is increased to 120, to kill people with Angel armor, but you can only have one at a time now.) SMG Hipfire accuracy and LMGs will also be buffed.

Also, the capture points on top of skyscrapers on Breakthrough will be moved elsewhere, clearly DICE didn't playtest when they thought that having capture points on top off a skyscraper was a good idea.

Also, C5 drone is apparently a toxic strategy now, and DICE plans to nerf it next month:

I don't want to imagine the outrage from the community, if DICE dares to nerf Jeep Stuff as well.

Anybody think Battlefield 1 with DLCs is worth buying now? Still active on PS4?
It was fairly active last I played it in the Summer. It was on Xbox, and I had to use server browser to find full matches, but the DLC maps still had more activity than I expected it. Not sure if 2042 drew more players away from BF1, so check the server browser for DLC population just to be on the safe side.

It turns out that despite DICE saying that they fixed the Loadout Bug in the newest patch, the said bug is still happening. And given that DICE is on Holiday break, people having to deal with this massive annoyance won't bode well for the player count...

Hitreg appears to have been noticeably improved though, although I'm sure there's still some non-hitreg moments that happen.

Nice, they're repeating that time they fucked the time-to-kill for Battlefield V. Very smart of them, isn't it?

Seriously, what the fuck happened to DICE that turned them into a bunch of incompetent dickheads?

Yes, BF1 is fantastic and there should be plenty of servers, all the old BF games have seen a resurgence since BF2042 fell flat on its ass.

Most of the DICE that made Battlefield, Battlefield left the company after BF1, people that had been there since the founding of the company, people who were there during the golden years of Battlefield. Now DICE is fully taken over by EA and EA is calling the shots of what they want Battlefield to be, which is a hero shooter with stupid cosmetics and quirky one liners like every other shit game in that vein. Used to be DICE pitched a game to EA, EA would approve of it and DICE could do whatever as long as it was within the allotted budget, BF1 was the DICE passion project, a game they had rejected 3 times over a 10 year period.

DICE just got BioWare'd in other words. Just a shambling corpse in name only of it's former self.

For real? I thought those games would have less people after 2042 entered the picture, if only because it was new.

I'll have to try out BF4 and BF1 while DICE continues to fuck up 2042, so many good memories with those two games.

Just going by steam, BF2042 had a concurrent playerbase of about 100k on release day, that is now down to 25k, BFV is around 20k in the last 24 hours.

Yeesh, the game isn't even a month old yet and it's barely pulling ahead of the last game, how embarrassing for DICE.

It does warm my heart to know the genuinely good games have decent activity, BF fans know what they want.

Pretty much, and before Bioware it was Origin Systems. Origin were trailblazers in rpgs with their Ultima franchise and they also made Wing Commander which were fantastic games as well. EA meddled with the franchise and the series crashed and burned within just two games.

this doesn't align at all what we know about bioware, you can't fuck around 6 years saying you're building a destiny killer and then crap out anthem's launch version when EA is breathing down your neck. heck one of it's best aspects, they flying, apparently only happened because an EA exec saw it and wanted more of it.

you're also ignoring that dice have always been utter cunts, just look what happened with trauma studios, how they handled bf3 (getting utterly butthurt about people removing their blue pissfilter, among other things), bf4 launch up until naval strike which took dice la and visceral to unfuck and improve and a general "we don't know why people liked bc2".
"old" dice were people like "I can't explain my kid daughter why she can't play battlefield as a character that looks like her" demize99 and patrick "don't like it don't buy it" söderlund.
tbh given given dice' track record bf1 is an exception, not the rule and I wouldn't be surprised if that was the one time EA actually kept an closer eye on dice before they let them off the hook again - and then battlefield V happened.

Lol the Anthem story is a funny one. Bioware spent like five years fucking around in preproduction for Anthem. The only reason we even got a game is that EA actually rung up and asked "hey fucktards, where's the game you promised?" and they had to crunch the rest of the way because they had to scramble to actually produce something.
